Where do I get pre recorded mp3 players made?

Hi guys/gals,
Can anyone tell me of a site that sells "pre-loaded" mp3 players with information I previously record to use as a promo tool? Thanks in advance for the reply!

Have you checked Google? I just searched on...

    preloaded wholesale mp3 player

...and found a couple sites on the first page that looked promising.

    Jay thanks! I will check.

Just to clarify what I'm up to: I want to ship an audio book as a freebie to people that opt-in to my site. I saw a guy online doing the same thing but instead of shipping a cd to his customers he was sending them an actual mp3 player with the audiobook already on it. I would like to physically ship the product because I have an upsell at the checkout when they are paying for shipping and conversion of the sale is higher because credit card is already in hand and they are making a purchase anyhow. Thanks for your help.

The "low tech" way to do it -- and it could be feasible depending on how much volume you're doing -- is to get a bunch of the MP3 players, get your content ready, and just make an assembly line and copy the data onto them while you're watching a movie or something.

I did that with a bunch of flash drives once and it worked fine for a "limited run."

  • I'd also agree with Jay and recommend doing this yourself. I imagine you're starting off with a trial run (to see if this is cost-effective), so you may only want to run off in the region of 50-100.

Don't forget to look for lightweight MP3 players with minimal packaging (postage reasons) and consider if you are shipping worldwide.

You could easily outsource the production to some tech savvy teenagers for minimal cost (beats a paper round for them).

I did a whole bunch of research on this last year and got excited about the pre recorded mp3 players because for my audience, they seemed to be easier to use than regular mp3 players. (Many of my customers are in their 50s and don't own an mp3 player yet.)

However, when I got samples, they were not the no-brainer gadget I'd imagined. One of them has buttons that are so tiny that you'd need a magnifying glass to find them.

The only no-brainer pre recorded player I've seen is the Playaway and they don't offer good pricing at low volumes.

So consider your audience when you do this. If it's a younger crowd, they'll be happy to get any preloaded mp3 player, and they'll know how to use it. However, if I'd received the one with the tiny buttons as a premium, I would have been frustrated and unhappy with it.
