100% Conversion From This Traffic Source...

Hello Warriors:

I'm almost hesitant to post this; I probably should be delving deeper into it by myself but, since I never really "got" PPC, I'm just going to spill my guts here:

Having analysed the sources of traffic coming to one of my websites for all of 2009 to date, approximately 90% of the referral URLs listed that contain mail.yahoo.com, mail.live.com, or mail.google.com are converting at 100%. Whether it be 1 or 50 sales at a time, in every case, the number of visitors equates to the number of sales exactly. (Most of the remaining 10% hover between 50% and 75% conversions).

I don't know if you can specify that you want traffic just from the above, or if they come as 'part of the package' but, either way, webmail with "the Big 3" looks to be a bloody good source of converting traffic.

Tommy.

So may I ask- How did you get traffic from those places in the first place?

That's all true referral traffic. Your visitors read an email that recommended your site or product then clicked on a link in that email.

The real question is, where are the referrals coming from?

If that's the case, I don't know. I hope nobody is using my stuff to spam people. I had assumed it was from PPC ads next to people's e-mail messages.

My Gmail addresses are inundated daily with offers and sometimes I wonder how they (promoters) got my email in the first place. I've done some research and it seems people can scape your email and flood you with spam.

I don't think this is the case with the OP, but this is certainly one way one's webstats could have webmail referrals.

I am getting this kind of traffic to almost all of my sites. I think most of them are people who are subscribing for Google Alerts and similar services based on a set of keywords and just get all new pages that contain those keywords. Or RSS to email subscribers and so on.

I'm really glad you started this thread. I have been noticing some referrals in my analytics from webmail urls and wondered what on earth it was and where it was coming from. Why would someone be promoting a site when there is no affiliate program it's just me that gets the sales

Edit - of course it could be someone recommending to a friend or family or something like that (I am so trained on IM I forgot about the real world )

I get figures like this when I send out and email with a "Buy Now" button, or people buy from an autoresponder.

If you are getting the traffic because your ads are being displayed in inboxes, that's good. To be honest, I've developed complete ad blindness when it comes to my Yahoo mail inbox.

I'm talking about the ads all around my mail, not in it. The header, the side links, etc...
