promatching.com - first impression?

When you look at promatching.com does it feel like it is designed for women specifically? This is the impression many people have gotten and expressed. Do you think there could be more changes to the site? As reported by my clients, number of members are increasing tremendously, especially women members. If you were looking for a date online what other features or layout, you would like to see?

Well, that certainly is the WIDEST website I've ever seen.

I didn't even know I could scroll that far to the right.

Other than that, I do think it caters to a more feminine crowd, but your stats will prove that out.

      Overall, it looks very nice.

Really? How wide? Did you get a scroll bar to scroll to the right? Which browser did you see it in? I am looking at it in Firefox, and it looks okay.

          IE 8.

Everything runs to the right until the sentances stop.

It's like when you are looking at a source code without "Word Wrap" checked.

Thanks for the feedback buddy. I will forward this info to my developer for the fix.

Just got feedback from the developer. They just installed IE 8 and did not see the scroll bar. Is it possible to attach a screenshot of the web page you are looking at? Which page and url was it showing the scroll bar for?

            Thanks.

Here's a screen shot of the ends of the sentances.

It will scroll a lot farther (2x-3x) than what this pic shows.

Thanks for uploading the screenshot buddy!

Wow .... that does scroll to the right a lot. Although I have not been able to see the scroll bar at the bottom in IE8, I wonder why would that be appearing. I will have this checked out in all browser and see where this happens exactly.

Do you think it is a good thing? It is meant for serious singles looking for long term relationships. Should it be jazzed up with hot girls and guys? I think there are too many such dating site templates. What do ya say?

I understand what you are trying to do with the site, but when I pulled it up it was like a smack in the face.

There is too much going on.

The visitor does not know what you want him or her to do first. There are too many options.

Remember -- "A confused mind always says, 'No!'"

What do you want your site visitor to do first? What is the most imprtant thing for him or her to do once they arrive at your site?

Once you have decided this, take the visitor's hand and lead them through it.

There is no big headline to grab my attention or call to action.

Jillian. Thanks for your honest feedback. After I read it, I also felt the same way, looking at it from user's point of view. I have sent the feedback to the graphics designer and see if the design can be altered to make sure it grabs attention of serious daters. I guess the picture on the right hand side can go.

Looking forward to more constructive feedback.

Have you sent your designer examples of sites that are laid out well?

Speaking from experience, often you have one idea in your head and the designer has another idea, and the two are not similar.

Your average graphic designer is concerned with making a beautiful site, and they haven't learned the strategies that you have learned by being a member here.

I've heard stories of people paying thousands of dollars for sites that were absolutely gorgeous and had all kinds of bells and whistles, but when it got right down to it, the site was not doing its job, which is to become an automated lead-generating machine that works for you 24 hours a day.

Right on Jillian. I checked out several popular sites and sent them over to give them an idea. I understand what you are saying. It really doesn't help to have a beautiful and heavily loaded site. If users won't understand what their next step should be, however beautiful it is, it won't matter. I have made clear what exactly I want and hope to get some good results.

Your site still extends several feet to the right on my browser , and yea, it is the only site I have ever seen do this.

Did you ever figure that one out?

                  Hi KJ,

Thanks for bringing up the issue again

I checked the site in IE8 but it looked ok, did not extend to the right. I am not sure if I am looking at the same browser version as yours. I was wondering if in your browser, you can click on Help button, and let me know all the browser information. You can attach the screenshot if you wish.

Hey guys. Thanks for the honest feedback last time.

The website has been revamped. Let me know what you think about the updated design.

Looked good on my screen. Nothing messy at all, everything seems to be in place.

I think it's the color scheme, try split testing it.

When I see white, purple, and hearts in the background I just feel like I am in a feminine place.

So try changing it up, maybe some dark blue. Heck you could target guys with one style of page, and target girls with a different!

Just from what I can tell, try changing up the color scheme.

Sounds good. I will try to have the color scheme changed to blue and see if it makes any difference for overall impression.
