Uploading Camstudio Video onto Wordpress

I have just downloaded Camstudio and have created my first mini trial video. It is saved as an .avi file. My problem is that I cannot upload onto my wordpress blog. Using the video upload function in wordpress, I simply get a text on the psot but no video. Do i need to download a plug in and if so which one. I am using divx as the compressor. Please help.

thanks

Juzer

    Hi Juzer,

Try conveting your video to flash, i.e. SWF, FLV or MP4 and upload it, that should work fine. AVI videos are typically not used on websites, unless you are uploading them to somewhere like Youtube because of the amount of variations in codex's.

    All the best

    Hey Juzer,

    Jason's remark is on-the-mark.

The purpose of this post is only to "PLUS" his suggestion.

To select the output type in Camtasia go to "Produce Video As..." (this link will be in the "Task List" if you display it (see the "View" menu if you don't) AND you can find "Produce..." as an option on the "File" menu.

Another thing you might give some thought to is where to host your video file. In addition to your blog-site, some (many?) Warriors host their video files on Amazon's "S3" service as well as TechSmith's (the publisher of Camtasia) "Screencast.com" service. An advantage of Screencast.com (if you post a lot of videos) is that you can link your Camtasia instance to Screencast and "Produce Video As..." will automagically upload (FTP) the resulting file into Screencast for you. If you use this option, then Screencast provides some HTML code you can cut & paste into you blog post.

    Hope this helps.

    Good hunting out there,

Hi Jason. Thank for the tip to convert to flash file.

The second problem I had was that the file size was too big. I came across a you tube tutorial which suggested using Windows Movie Maker to reduce the size and convert to .wmv.

However using just the wordpress video upload still did not work as the video just showed as a text.

Why will the video not show in my wordpress post.

      Thanks

      Juzer

    Hi Juzer

As mentioned before you probably need to load the flsh file which will be either flv, swf or mp4 to your server via ftp and then use a plugin like viper video tags to embed it in your blog.

You can also use screen cast to load your video.

Here is an example of screencast.

Streaming Audio Software Mp3 Sound Stream

Here is an example of a mp4 via S3:

Any problems get back to me.
