The importance of Amazon, something to be aware of......

This recent article which is posted throughout the internet points out an important fact that internet marketers should be aware of. It is simply that most online shoppers go directly to Amazon when they plan to purchase. This article states a survey that found 55% of shoppers do this. I recall reading an even higher number in the past.

It also mentions "Amazon accounted for roughly 60 percent of all online sales growth in the U.S. last year. It's widely expected to extend its lead over traditional retailers on the web this holiday."

This dominance by Amazon should be understood by Amazon affiliates and third party sellers.

    Actually, this article is delivering two important ideas:
    1. 55% of all online shoppers head directly to amazon when they want to buy something, so anyone selling a physical product should make sure that his/ her product is also being sold through amazon;
    2. 45% of online shoppers DON'T head directly to amazon when they want to buy something. So any IM-er should also focus on discovering those venues that 45% of the online shoppers are using.

    ...maybe we should try to rank our own white label physical products on Amazon.

      Or you introduce your customers to products they didn't even know existed let alone needed until they heard about them first from you...

        That's the only time I go to Amazon through a route other than just going directly to Amazon....if I read about something cool I didn't know about before, I'm interested in it, and the website I'm reading about it on has a link to the product on Amazon.

        Otherwise, I just go right to Amazon.

        So, your strategy is one that I know would work.
