Amazon's new api?

I jut want to use a widget to show some items related to my site.

Will I need to apply for the new api for that ir is that just for amazon stores etc?

    You don't need that, you can get to the widgets from an affiliate account.

      I have an associate account where I got my widget from. So I don't need to apply for the api to use a widget(and get paid)?

    No, that is for other types of products. Since you are using an Amazon widget the api is covered. If you were using something like ReviewAzon you would need to get the api code. BTW, it isn't that difficult to get one, you just have to go through some additional steps.
