My business plan is to be one of the few top results on Google and then provide an advertising platform for dog food providers, breeders, etc...
    Hi Orel,

    Welcome to the forum.

Did you buy the domain after seeing the movie or did you already own the domain?

I'm wondering if you were caught up in the emotion or whether you own or breed the dogs?

As for ranking and all the SEO stuff there will tons of different advice you will receive from a wide range of respondents here on the forum.

There is a lot more to ranking than having an EMD with the emphasis now more on quality content and user experience.

The pet niche however is a strong niche and will always continue to grow.

Just the other day I was listening to an interview with Michael Frizell, the owner of Pet Circle, one of the fastest growing online brands in the space in Australia. From starting around 7 years ago with a handful of products to now turning over $70MM and doubling their warehouse every year.

You might want to do some research and read a bit about their journey---->
Pet Circle, Greencross position as pet care becomes Australia's fifth-fastest growing sector | afr.com

They understand what is in the minds of their customers and I would encourage you to do the same.

Don't think so much about the SEO but about what the owner desires and then craft your content and products around that.

    Best of luck.

    Kind regards,

    Ozi

Hi Ozi and thank you for replying.
I actually have an Akita Inu. However, I completely understand why you ask this question.
ATM, most of the breeders are doing nothing beside posting pictures of their puppies on some FB groups. Most of them don't even have a website.
I'm almost sure that most of the people in these groups are either breeders or Akita Inu owners, so it's pretty hard to find a buyer there.
I also wrote an article about choosing an ideal Akita Inu puppy, because ending up with a bad one is definitely not something you want to do.
I was thinking of having a list of trusted breeders (Let's say 2-3 from each country) and charge them a small amount of money each month for driving traffic to their website.

I know that SEO is just a small part of managing a website. However, I'm willing to learn and do what it takes to make this website profitable.

I'm not a fan of the slideshow at the bottom - could as easily be somewhat smaller images that are linked to articles/pages/products.

Good start on the site - I would be adding breed characteristics - special medical issues - and, importantly, how experienced an akita owner must be or how much time is involved in training/maintenance.

Unfortunately for dog breeds that become highly popular due to a movie or book....many who rush out to buy the breed end up mistreating them or mishandling them...or abandoning them.

If you are going to focus on a breed - I think you have an obligation to help protect the breed as well by highlighting the pros and cons of ownership...but that's just me.

Have you approached breeders to see if there is advertising to be found? Good products would be those aimed at large and highly active dogs and there are many good affiliate programs for those.

Just noticed Ozi's post and totally agree. Focus on the dogs and their potential owners and be as breed specific as possible. Easy with this breed as they are not a good choice for first time pet owners - but have a devoted following of those experienced with the breed.

Look at authority blogs on other med to large breed working or hunting dogs - to find more topics to highlight on your site.

      Hey Kay,
I totally agree that I have a really big responsibility to protect both the breed and potential owners.

The website is quite new and I will definitely add more articles including the pros and cons of having na Akita Inu, potential medical problems and the personality of the dog. (It's a hell to train this one)

I wrote an article about dealing with the Akita Inu shedding:
      http://www.akitainu.com/grooming/akita-inu-shedding/

As you can see, I am promoting a hand brush there and I already got some clicks, but close to nothing (around 15).
The thing is that only 10 people a day actually get inside the website and they all come from Facebook.

Regarding approaching breeders to see if there's any advertising to be found, what do you mean by that?

Making video doesn't have to be expensive.

Set up your Youtube Channel and upload a few videos of your dog shot on your phone and optimise the titles and a brief description with a link to your website.

This is a low cost but very high value investment of your time that would yield results long into the future.

It should be one of your first tasks when setting up any business to secure the major social media accounts even if you only post a bit of content and link back to the site.

Video helps with ranking because of several factors and you said people are interested because they watched a movie. You have a dog,. You have a camera. People will watch video and that increases engagement on your website.

It is not hard to do nor is it expensive.

        Best regards,

        Ozi

That's why I mentioned it - I fostered an Akita a few years ago. Loved the the dog and was able to find a great home....BUT had to be honest - no small kids, no cats, someone with experience and understanding of dogs required.

Smart dog, but stubborn, too. My few months of experience indicated a novice pet owner would have problems with this breed unless willing to pay for professional training (for themselves and the dog).

The brush is good - could expand into a full section of grooming tools. Review of shedding brushes - shedding blades - and many other grooming tools.

By 'breeder ads' just a thought that when you are getting more traffic you may be able to sell ads TO breeders - where they would have 1/4 or 1/8 (webpage, that is) to place an ad for their breeding facility. Some dog trainers might also be interested in that - especially ones that have branches and franchises in many areas. Just a thought and don't know if it would work.

Just because you said "No children"
This is my Akita, by the way.
I will indeed extend to more grooming tools, great idea!
regarding selling ads to breeders, I will definitely do it! my idea was to have a list of trusted breeders (2-3 from each country) and charge them a monthly fee to be there.
Alongside with that, post their puppies for sale in a platform.
regarding dog trainers, I can't see how it would work. My audience will come from all around the world and I don't see why a trainer in the US will pay to advertise himself in the UK for example.

Between 100K - 1M searches containing the words Akita Inu are being made in Google on a monthly basis.
What other words do they contain? Buyer words like buy, breeder, price, etc.? Or are they curiosity words? The intent of the searcher is paramount to monetization.

Just because a lot of people are curious doesn't mean there is money to be made.

Several years ago I found a niche with 1.5 million searches per month. I spent about a month trying to devise a way I could make money from all those people. I never found one. Adsense clicks were worth $0.02.

      You have a good point.
I'm not suggesting that 100k-1m people are interested in buying an Akita each month (Phew)
I'm saying that if someone wants to buy an Akita, he probably do search for it on Google (or Bing or whatever)
What I want to know is how hard it would be for my website to be one of the first results on Google...

Get this part right, and the rest will simply be a matter of time.

Ranking on Google is all about the user experience these days. Give searchers what they are looking for, and Google will eventually reward you.

Simply ranking high isn't enough. I explain why in this post on another thread:

    http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...l#post11087462

I will give you props for actually choosing a specific niche you have a chance to compete in, rather than the common error of aiming for the "pet niche" or even the "dog niche".

As far as the number of searches containing a specific keyword, it doesn't always mean what you think it means.

Several years ago, before the rise of streaming services and endless syndication, I made some good money promoting box sets of popular TV series. I was using a combination of reviews posted to a blog and Adwords. My click throughs weren't as high as I thought they should be, so I took a closer look at the actual searches. By the way, the TV series I'm looking at here is Friends. My problem was that I failed to notice the large number of searches for the kiddie show Thomas and Friends from PBS. Once I add Thomas as a negative keyword, my CTR went up and my cost per click went down.

You might want to do a deep dive into your server logs and see how many searches are people looking for the movie, a book based on the movie, etc. Use keyword tools to do the same kind of deep dive. Look for the long tail keywords possible Akita owners might be using and focus on those. A good example would be the page about akita shedding and how to deal with it.

You may not make page 1 for Akita Inu, but you will rank for many long tail searches by your actual target market.

I knew I'd seen the dog or a relative of it somewhere before.

You could set up a donation for personalised photos to the groups of crypto-miners who mine and trade in DOGE - DOGECOIN

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dogecoin

This could account for some of the internet searches you are seeing for the breed.

More info on the way to get involved is here--->Dogecoin

Nice Blog. I like the Slideshow and fans of the dog will too. Not sure exactly what you decide with the dog breeders and monthly monetisation with that. That sounds like good potential.

But you might also have some way to collect visitors and their info. with an Optin Box on the right hand side. And get closer to them with some emails i.e Additional Content and more personable information to share with them.

The domain name will help. At the beginning, if the main keyword turns out to be very competitive, I´d start with "long tail keywords" that are easier to rank for.

https://ubersuggest.io/ is a good tool to find long tail keywords.

    * Except Facebook other social media links are not working.
    * Few menu links are also not working. You should fix them asap or hide them. Because I feel like the site is in development mode or a developer create it just for testing purpose.
    * you should start a blog section Publish content regularly. That will related to akita & other dogs breed.
