What are the best free directories for guest posting?

Hi,
We have published some articles on our website. Now I'm looking for some free directories to publish the articles as a guest blog post. Any advice?
Thanks in advance.

I prefer to build friendships with established bloggers in my niche Marcus, folks who run rocking blogs.

I promote them and comment on their blogs.

Then I usually get invites to guest post. So I get links from reputable blogs with large, engaged communities, versus many of the lesser quality blogs that pop up on directories, etc.

I think it would be a good idea to focus on the blogs where you have to earn your way onto them. Free directories are usually those used by people solely for marketing purposes. As a consequence the only people or most of the people who will visit them is other marketers.

There was a time when posting content to free directories wa an effective way to build traffic, but those days are long gone.

    Two things killed them.

One, Google started penalizing sites for poor content, which many of the "guest posts" on free sites tended to be. It was mostly keyword loaded trash sprayed like digital manure to gain backlinks. When Google devalued those links, the method lost it's steam.

Two, Google put the fear of hellfire into the hearts of many publishers with only two words -- "duplicate content." Publishers and blog owners started demanding original, unique content, often requiring exclusive rights.

While I have no way of knowing the quality of the articles the OP mentioned several months ago, even if they are top notch, finding an effective home for them as guests posts may be a tough row to hoe.

Googling certain phrases will also help turn up some ideas:

    nutrition + "write for us"

topic + "guest post" "write for us" etc. You'll find all kinds of ideas.

Medium is another one where you can just start posting.

    Scoop.it

    etc
