What is the best way a newbie should get started after getting domain name and website?

I'm completely new to affiliate marketing and I have a web page that's not quit what I thought it would be but I'm able to blog on it with word press and able to ad videos and links but I have only a rough idea of how to get started but what is the most effective thing to do to make my page look good and generate good traffic?and how would I set up a news letter or subscription box for visitors? I know my terminology isn't correct so I hope you all understand what I'm asking thanks

I would say the best place to start would be to begin writing good quality content that educates and provides value to your target market.

In terms of making your site look good, I find that images always work. There are lots of free stock image sites such as Pexels and Unsplash. Canva is another great site that allows you to create and edit your own images, this one does entail a small subscription fee but I think you get a free months trial when starting out.

When deciding which opt-in box to use I Googled opt-in boxes, there are lots of helpful review sites. I use Thrive, there is a one off fee but from what I could gather most of the good opt-in plugin have some kind of charge. I like Thrive because it is easy to use, looks good and has a really cool split testing function.

You will also need to set up an email autoresponder in order to start building a list of subscribers. I use Aweber, but again I'd suggest to check out some review sites to see which one will suit you best.

    Good luck

Hi Tyvlogger Glad to help out. I have to be honest I'm still in the learning phase myself, upskilling an implementing all that I learn. All I can say is that it's not a get rich quick scheme. It takes time to gain the skills and start generating profit. I think the secret is self-belief, persistence and determination. Also, look at it as a long term objective, not a short term hobby. If you treat it like a business and not a hobby than you will see results. Also, take action consistently. It doesn't matter how imperfect the action is, consistency is key! And learn, learn and learn. Also, there are heaps of free resources out there so take advantage of whatever you can.

The first step is to pick one audience you're going to target, then research their needs, wants, desires, and especially their pain points. What problems are they facing and need help with?

In a nutshell, the more you can help people solve their problems the more money you'll make from your efforts.

The best way to structure your blog is by giving value based info that helps people in your target market (niche)...the same people that you want to click on your links, opt into your lead capture page, read your emails and buy your stuff.

The sexiness and professional look of a website is not as important as the content you provide along or where you put your call to actions.

Your call to action is stuff like the opt in box that you put in different places...some marketers have it front and center near the header, some have it in the sidebar and some will have both and even a 'pop' up as well.

You will need an Auto responder like Aweber for your list building plus a plugin that you can get access to (from Aweber) right inside your WordPress dashboard...go to plugins...click add new and then a search box will appear...type Aweber plugin and choose the one that was developed by Aweber...click install.

There are lots of videos on YouTube explaining how to do all this stuff.

People buy into you first and your products second.

They 'first' buy into you when they Perceive you as a person of Value!

I hope you understand what I am saying.

Great advice. You hit the nail on the head, Rory.

My favorite nugget is "people buy you first." Lots of people don't realize this. Until your audience likes, knows and trusts you, it's hard to make ANY sales. Once they do, it's pretty easy to make sales.

Focus on providing VALUE. Create epic content. Help people solve their problems. Do that and people will naturally buy from you.

Mate it depends on your goals and target audience... but content marketing is always going to work...

If your goal is to build authority: Content marketing...

The problem is : it takes time and that's why you need to identify your personal / biz goals. Short / Medium / Term

I would focus on content + SEO and social media to start bringing momentum . Good luck

You should be driving traffic to your website using social media and at the same time creating an email list.

I recommend to start a blog. If you are looking to earn money from the website. First you need to build the blog authority on the web and then you can have affiliate links on the blog.

Hello there...first of all, congratulations on getting your website up

Before you actually proceed on with your blog, do you have a clear idea on where do you want to proceed with your blog and marketing strategy?

Making your page look good as Dennielle Lee say, have great looking pictures to help with visuals. Choose a theme which you find it easy to customise. Only you will have an idea on how you want your blog to look like.

To set up subscription box, you can try Magic Action Box, just find that Wordpress plugin. It allows you to create boxes to insert your autoresponder code in it. Free version is working fine for me.

    Generating good traffic...

Put out great content. Make sure SEO is implemented. This strategy is not for immediate results but generating traffic in the long term.

The fast way to get traffic is definitely through paid methods. However, I will suggest you to use the paid traffic to build your email list first, and then monetise them, and you can send them to your blog for traffic, especially when you just publish a new post.

There are many ways to go about it, but this is the way I am doing it. Might not be the best out there, but I am getting results with it.

    Hope this helps

I love the idea of using paid traffic to build a list and then sending people on your list to your blog. That is what I do. I send a daily email to my list to a different page on my blog. It works great. Gets me lots of repeat visitors and sales. I simply take about 1/3 of the blog post and copy and paste it into the email and at the end of of it there is a link that says if you want to read the rest of this training click this link. When they do that they are sent to my blog.

Hello there, first of all congratulation on getting your site up.

Its a very good start to earn money through online, affiliate marketing is a very good platform to earn money with little hard work.
You need to be very specific about your targeted customer and the products you want to share in your site.
But to do so you need to make a good blog site for promoting the affiliate links . That will all happen if you have a good content on your site with product description and good quality of pictures. you can use some free picture editor sites to edit or design picture for your blog.
And the main thing you need to promote your business is through seo and some social media activities.Otherwise you wont get maximum number of clicks on your affiliate links.

As a would-be affiliate, I wouldn't even start thinking about a domain name or website until I'd identified a market that I knew how to reach and that I could promote a range of products or services to.

The online habits of that market would determine my method(s) of promotion. Maybe a dedicated, content-heavy website; maybe a simple one-off lead page to capture contact details. Or maybe a presence on a social media platform.

    But first, find that market.
TOP TIP: To browse the forum like a Pro, select "View Classic" from the drop-down menu under your user name.

Good response. I've found that a lot of people focus on trying to "sell" stuff before they've even built an audience. Until you have an audience that likes, knows and trusts you, it will be hard to sell. Once you have that in place, you can sell just about anything with ease.

Go to Youtube and type in what you want to know and you will be shown what and how to do it.

Don't try to shove products down peoples throats. You MUST give first. Give demo's of the products, show results, explain how it will help your market. And if you can, give a demo of how it will help them.

Proof is a biggie. I like to see videos of how things actually worked for others.

I would suggest first taking time to really evaluate my niche. You want a niche with money that likes to buy stuff. Next, you need a product or service that people WANT. It doesn't matter if you want it. Your niche must want it. I would also choose a niche you are familiar with, so you know how they think, and what their problems are, and you can relate to them.

After you do that, you want a capture page, auto-responder, and 3-5 affiliate products you can promote as backend offers. From there, you drive traffic to your capture page. I suggested focusing on one paid and one free method to get traffic. Take the time and master those strategies. From there, expand to other traffic ideas.

It really boils down to a product or service people desperately WANT to buy, promoting the heck out of your website, and good follow-up.

Good points about proof. Testimonials are a great way to close people sitting on the fence and generate more sales. Use video testimonials whenever possible.

  • Thanks everyone this has been really helpful my niche is going to be fitness& health so I was going to also make tutorial videos on YouTube to add to my blog site as well as start an Instagram and Facebook account for the website but I also need to learn how to set up those landing pages so I don't waste the traffic that I may start to generate but that is a awesome idea about one free product and one paid product along with testimonials I may even use the YouTube channel to try some of the products and blog/vlog about it what do you think of that?
