Question About Hosting

Hi all,

My current host (D9Hosting) has been used for the past 8 months purely for my blog but following my 'jump' into CB 2.0 I now plan to build at least 6 sites in the next 12 months (maybe more!) and so I am looking at other hosting options.

I must stress that I have had no issues whatsoever with D9 and have not ruled out continuing with them when my subscription is up for renewal in Feb 2010.

I have been looking at Hostgator and in particular their 'baby' package but also wondered whether a 'Reseller' package is worth considering.

I have spent the past hour reading previous posts on hosting (yes I have used the 'Search' facility! :-)) and so I am a little more knowledgable but as every post has a slightly different 'slant' on it I thought it may be worth getting opinions from you helpful, experienced people!

Many thanks

Andy

I think that hostgator would be the best option because they give you a lot of options.

    Hi there,

I personally use Hostgator and have a resellers account rather than the baby package. I use the Baby packages if I am going to set up a single site. The resellers account gives you full control over each domain and to all intents and purposes they are separate with their own CPanel and disk area and so on.

I've found Hostgator support to be fantastic and have had 99% of problems fixed within a few minutes by live support.

They also seem to work well with most pieces of software and I've no complaints about them.

    All the best

    Jason

I'm using Hostgator's Baby package to host multiple domains and so far so good.

Technically you can host only one main domain. The additional domains are considered Addon Domains and these added-on domains are created as sub-folders off the public_html folder. Besides, you'll only be given one CPanel account regardless of how many domain and addon domains you have.

However, with their reseller hosting account, you'll be given access to Web Host Manager that allows you to create one CPanel account per domain. With the reseller account, the management of multiple domains is easier. Furthermore, if you are going to outsource your website-related tasks, it's 'safer' to give out the access of the particular CPanel account (that allows access to only one domain).

    Hi There,

I personally use HostGator's Reseller package. They are located in Houston, TX. They have great support. They backup sites for you (I've had to have the restore sites for me a few times.) And they offer scalability with their hosting packages. As you need more space and bandwidth they have an easy way to upgrade.
