Okay, did the ole IM 'Selfie Video' while Driving Down the Road Experiment...

I posted this on another Forum and thought I would include it here.

I had been debating whether I would do it or not... the car video that is. I know some Marketers like Kern and Mike Long have done it for years in their Lambos and Bentleys .
( Well, I decided to skip the Ferrari GTO. They couldn't order the color I wanted. And it was a 6 month waiting list so I got the next best thing a 2016 Mazda Sedan LOL)

Maybe it's a little gimicky the whole car video thing that is. Of course it won't necessarily make more sales for you or take your business to new heights. But I always thought that it was another medium that people like Kern and Long and some others would utilize to engage with their Audience that much more. Keep it interesting as well entertaining.

Mine was impromptu and kind of unpolished . I tried holding the selfie stick with phone and recording while I was driving. Needless to say it was dangerous and other drivers were honking at me. I guess they thought I was being reckless .

So I lodged it in the Radio compartment and stabilized it with a frisbee. And this worked really well.

Iam sure they must have some hardware to mount on the dashboard to do all this and give a more level headed shot ????

    Great video Robert,

I left a comment and gave you a thumbs up. You're a video natural and should definitely do more. Excellent tips and sound advice about what it takes to make it in internet marketing or any business. I agree 100%.

My only constructive criticism is to get some kind of dash mount for your phone, but you're probably on that already

Great job and I look forward to more vids,
    Brad

The camera angle takes away the whole driving effect. You could just as well be in a room. Get it off the ground so you can see movement. However you should do more videos. I have a much better impression of you in video than I do of posting. Good job.

Thanks man. Yeah I need to work on the angle. Overall, I do not think the car video thing lead to direct massive results i.e. sales, profits etc... More subtle effects of an overall Marketing Mix.. like engagement with audience and stuff like that

I guess I just haven't built any type of YT channel so I figure I might give it a try a little bit. Experiment here and there. Not that Iam all that, but I can pretty easily reel out Content with video. It comes natural and easy to me. I can just go out to the car and start spouting stuff off the top of my head without even thinking. And it's halfway coherent, nothing like a Claude video of course but still fairly decent.

But really not sure if it is worth it in the long run. Honestly, I just cant see myself doing hundreds of these or even dozens. I'll see.

But thanks to you guys for the input and encouragement

I agree with the 'more videos' - your pace is great - none of the hmmm, or ummm, or duhhhh and no long dead silences between words.

Your voice is great for videos. Obviously if you develop a triple chin or forget to trim your nose hair....you'll need to change the angle....sorry, couldn't resist.

      Thanks

hehehe.... Mrs. Kern politely pointed that out in the other forum. Thank you Kay for discerning that it was not a b##ger as she thought LOL

    Robert,

If there's one thing this industry needs . . . it's more common sense and reality . . . something I think you are good at bringing, both in your posts and your video. Keep up the good work!

Lots of brackets for holding phones in the car - even suction-cup models for the windshield.

    Found this:

Walmart sells suction phone holders for like $10 that you can stick on the window, that have a longish arm that can be bent every which way, so you can get both your mug and the traffic that' nearly killed u in the shot. They sell them for 49 bucks too, if you really really want to help the Walmarts overtake Bill Gates.

Illegal to drive and film at the sames time. I would read up on the laws.

In the US, many states (nearly half) specifically prohibit windshield mounts for cameras while driving. Consider using dashmounts or attaching to your rear view mirror to minimize obstruction and/or attention. Some marketers often just park while filming.

I have a mount for my phone that uses the vents. It has a clip that you simply clip into one of the air vents, and then attached to that is a mount that can hold a smart phone or a GPS.

You can also find ones on eBay or Amazon that can hold tablets or even GoPro cameras. I got the one I use at Best Buy for around $35 including tax.

They have less expensive ones at stores like Target or Wal-Mart. Some as cheap as $15 or so.

Those work best as they adhere to laws regarding dash cams and also because they don't use a suction cup type mount. I've found that suction cup mounts always wear out, especially if you live in a place with a hot, dry climate like Arizona.

Good video but as some others have suggested the camera angle is wrong. You should point it out to see the roads and your face better.

You seem to be a natural and should keep it up posting videos. Get the camera at a better angle no wants to view the trans shiftier or the roof line inside your car. Take a look at some of the other car videos you can see the road. For the first attempt it is great !
