Does the word 'Pyramid' has a negative connotation in the MMO/IM sphere?

I'm told that calling a product 'Pyramid Strategy' will have mixed opinions because it might be associated with Pyramid Scheme.

That's not good branding, eh

What do you guys think?

Any input is appreciated.

What is it about? It really depends on what the product is about

maybe "top-level strategy" It ( Pyramid Strategy ) is a pretty common term tho in the business world. But I could see your concern... maybe "top-level strategy" or maybe the " Maslow Strategy " based on Maslow's hierarchy of needs pyramid

One more thing to remember Pyramid and the name has the bad association with shady products and people very much like the Bit Coin and its shady association with all things evil

So maybe a name change would be better

Everyone goes crazy when they read or see the word Pyramid. They immediately think it's some type of scam or ponzi scheme, be sure to stay away from using that word.

I agree. Lose the word "pyramid", "hybrid", etc from the product name.

Even before i read the entire word, "pyramid", my brain sends a signal that says "Scam Alert".

Yes, it does sort of connote something negative because of those pyramid scams that we hear about almost anywhere. Choose a more positive name to it.

I would personally stay away from that. Especially when the second word even starts with S as well.

Most of the time yes, but I think with proper explanation as long as it dont appear as "pass the hot potato" it could give a good understanding that these pyramid scheme is something like earning connections.

    Hi Nathan,

    All depends on the beholder.

Some folks see the word and think scheme. Others think MLM. All depends entirely on the structure of the company, the product sold.

As a rule I prefer to build my brand, with my tribe, and am happy with that. But other folks vibe with different business models. All about what floats your boat and how clear you feel on that strategy.

From my experience, as a customer and a business person, the word Pyramid sets my hair on edge. Too many of those 1990's crazy ads and poor companies. Whether an MLM or a scheme or just plain fraud; there's too much bad history there.

What you have is a "general affiliate marketing course", right? Can you emphasize the educational aspect? That may also attract customers who wouldn't normally attend something for "affiliate marketing."

Unless you're talking about Egypt or Pharohs it may work. But if your talking about marketing or business in any form, the word 'Pyramid' not only sets off Alarm bells with marketers who've been burnt by them in the past. But the word Pyramid sets off alarm bells with many advertising platforms, i.e Google, Facebook, Instagram and of course the F.T.C.
