Best Credit Card Payment Processor For Coach?

Hi everyone.

I've done a little digging here to see what others are using to take payments online, but I haven't run across anyone in my situation.

I'm a coach and the money tends to fluctuate a lot rather than having a steady monthly income. There are months where I make nothing, and months where I can make thousands of dollars with a new program launch.

I'm concerned about using PayPal for my business - or at least as using it as the only way to accept credit cards. I've used it in the past with no problems, but I was playing very small and now I'm going bigger.

So, I think a merchant account and gateway is probably the best way for me to go. It seems to be the way the bigger online gurus go to.

I'm considering eMerchant, Authorizedotnet, and 2Checkout.

Any comments on any of these? Anyone in my situation (big influxes of money all at once) got any other recommendations?

    I have used Authorize.net. with electronic merchant systems

    They were a decent company. As a new user you will probably be subject to a 20% holdback or what they call a rolling reserve.

    Money was deposited into y business account every day once the batch was closed.

    You do have to make sure you don't have an excessive amount of chargebacks though...I want to say under 4% or they will suspend your account until it goes back under the 4% threshold.

      This is my experience using Authorize as well. I recommend them but yes, if you have issues with chargebacks then you might be in some trouble, but the holdbacks is nothing to worry about as long as you can afford to build up a bit of a bankroll over time. The payments get deposited weekly and the latest I got in two years was three days late, so not bad.

    When I had my ecommerce site I used Paypal Payments Pro with Gateway. One of the things I like most about that solution is the ability to accept American Express and Discover without having to have separate accounts. I used this solution for 7 years with no issues at all
