    Hi

That depends on how the affiliate program is set up - you need to read the terms for each one. Some - such as Clickbank - are set up as last person to recommend gets the sale, others are set up (Michael Green's products spring to mind) so that the first affiliate gets the commission.

Mine is a clickbank product. Are all clickbank products like that?

Where can I find the terms?

    Thanks for answering the question.

So how am I suppose to make a sale? I bet that 70% of buyers will go to google. Especially if people are STILL scared of buying onling, people trust google.

If they go to google and then go to the merchant you still get the commission. You only lose the commission if they go to another affiliate. However you may sometimes also benefit from this, suppose the prospect after checking somewhere else then happens to come to your site last, you will then get the commission so it's swings and roundabouts.

Your job as an affiliate is to create a roadblock between the customer and the merchant the effectiveness with which you do this will dictate how much money you make.

Not sure why people trust google more as google don't sell cb. At the end of the day it is how your presents yourself and if the info is of value to the possible client. You need to make sure your part will close the deal. That what makes a affiliate and a AFFILIATE

      Madison,

I didn't mean 'they went to google and done something completely different,' I did mean 'going to another affiliate site on google.'

The problem is, MANY people STILL don't trust buying online, or are at least a little apprehensive of spending money without a little research. The whole 'online scam' thing and 'cons' ect. is still in the minds of many buyers, esp if they are not computer savy.

I am sure that a large number of people go straight to google to buy the product as they think 'if it's on the top page of google-then it must be safe.'
Either that or they want a second opinion/review of the product.

Why hasn't cb not resolved this? 50 50 commission would be fair. I understand the dilemma of not knowing who gets the commission but surely the first site should be compensated for getting the customer.

So my site has to look more trust worthy and professional in order to compete with the sites on google.

If you create type review site, which include all the main products in a niche and offer a "recommendation" on one. Maybe look to offer a bonus if they buy through you.

Customers are less likely to go to another site because you have provided all the information they need to make a decision, try to develop your site to do this, I agree though, one of the main disadvantages of being an affiliate is you are dependent on the customers arbitrary choices.
