    Every classified ads site that I've seen grow from nothing into a business (and it hasn't been that many), did 2 things.

    They drilled down into a niche, and they advertised in the same places their market hung out (blogs, forums, FB etc).

    I'd like to add one thing (to Michael's two things) that I think is critical: good quality oversight (screening) of the ads.

    If a classified ad site is not monitored (screened for "spam and scam") it will quickly become filled with the same type of low quality garbage that fills many PLR sales sites. Those looking to make a fast buck will submit ads that contain products that are good for nothing.

    Keeping a close eye on ads is sometimes a tough thing - it requires that the site owner turn away some ad revenue. But in the long run, the site will become known for it's quality offerings.

    The very best to you,

      Very true. When I ran my classified site the script provided for ad moderation and approval, as well as IP blocking. The amount of crap that people tried to post was simply unbelievable.

      Cheers.

    Listen to Mick and Steve.

    I'd add; certainly helps to create helpful content through a blog or YouTube shouting out your website. Proves you know your stuff, and if you know your stuff, people trust you, see value in your ads, and click on the ads.

    I believe that the most important thing that should be in the strategy (in my opinion):
    Description of the business model of the firm;
    Business objectives;
    Segmentation of the target audience;
    Conclusions on competitive analysis that we can copy to ourselves;
    Conclusions on auditing current Internet marketing, what needs to be corrected, what needs to be done;
    Description of tools and channels for each segmental path, for each target audit.
