Got what might be a dumb question regarding backlinks and PR...

Now, I know that the higher the PR of the page that contains your link, the better. However, is that the PR of the site itself, or of the specific page that has your link?

For example, EZA's index page has a PR of 6. If I get an article posted there, with a link back to my site, let's say the specific article itself has a PR of 0. Is the link going back to your site considered to be coming from a page with a PR of 6 (ezinearticles.com), or a PR of 0 (ezinearticles.com/yourarticle.html)?

Same would go with taking an article, and posting it as a note on Facebook, which has a PR of 9. Or publishing your newsletters in an html archive on aweber. Repeat ad naseum for whatever site you want to post an article to.

Now, I know that what kind of site it is plays a big role, (i.e. - getting a link to a blog reviewing supplements from a site about fitness would be better than a link from a site about say lawn care). But I'm talking just PR in general here...

Thanks in advance.

It's the page.....a PR8 or PR9 page say like E-bay which is very high....can have an auction page that's a PR1 or PR3 or ect.....Could be not even ranked.
There are ways to check this online.....on Google....Google has a Page Rank Checker....so google it in

I don't think its as easy to say its the page or the domain. Those of use who have success with predominantly profile backlinks (where our actual page has a PR of 0) might beg to differ that its the PR of the page that matters.

PR flows. So if the home page is a high rank, and there is a link or two that end up at your profile page, some of that juice will flow through those pages to your site through your link. So even though the page that has the link on it is PR0, there is a little juice flowing through from the proceeding pages that have a higher PR.

I thought all of that was outlined in Angela's information. If not, I got it from somewhere else, but I don't remember where. But that is pretty much how I remember it being explained to me. Hope I was able to explain it so it made sense to you.

Oh yeah ...some sites will allow you to post on their front page under blog formats...so you can get a high PR7 back link.....also I think if you go on Ebay's forum area, it's a PR5 or PR6 to post there, that was last year...so check into it.

Gotcha - that was kinda what I was thinking. Otherwise, it'd seem like it'd be easy to get a boatload of PR9 backlinks from just posting notes on facebook.

    Thanks for the help.

Both cases are better than a PR zero site. However keep in mind that 1 link from a PR 4 page gave one of my blog posts a PR 2.

Also I find that Google link: query usually only shows links that are in the content body.

For instance Google defitely likes when my site has a post in a blog carnival but Google does not recognize all of the directories I have submitted too.

Also Google likes blog comments that have accepted my link in the comment under my name but not those in the website (optional) firld.
