Switching from two VPS Servers to one VPS Server

Hello,

I currently have two VPS servers with Liquid Web. Once hosts our WordPress ecomm site and gets about 7500 visist a month, the other hosts our VLE (Moodle) and has, at most about 15-20 concurrent users logged in.

The servers are exactly the same spec - 8GB Ram, 'Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E3-1271 v3 @ 3.60GHz', 3800MHz, 4 Core, Sockets: 1.

I am thinking of moving everything to one server but increasing the resources so I can also increase the load time of our WordPress site.

What are the drawbacks and/or benefits of using 2 servers vs 1 larger server?

Any thoughts or ideas?

    I don't think it's necessary to increase the hardware in your case.
    You have a good config.

    Benefits:
    - cost savings
    - convenience of management and monitoring

    Drawbacks:
    - server failure will affect both projects
    - increased use of resources of one project's may affect other
