Why don't people use simple capture pages?

Hey guys, i'm new to funnels and want to know something.

I notice a lot of people have sales pages (landing page) with testimonials and a lot of copyrighting.

why not just use a one attention grabbing capture page asking for email?

    Some people do use this. It all depends on traffic source, offer, niche, demographics, etc

    It's all about split testing to see what coverts best for you in your scenario.

    They do.

    For some, they build engagement BEFORE they send people to a sales page. In that case, it's possible to send people directly to a sales page and get the results you're after.

    If there's no engagement BEFORE you send traffic to a sales page, then you either have a very targeted product that solves a very specific problem, and your targeting in on point.

    In any other situation, the way to do it would be to send traffic to a capture page so you can build an email list and follow up regularly with them.

    Keep in mind: Sending people to a very short capture page with just a headline and an optin form, is not going to work the way it used to. It's been done to death, and it has been ruined by incompetent people who went to bed last night with no skills, and woke up this morning calling themselves marketers.

    My advice is to ENGAGE your readers/visitors BEFORE they get on your email list. If you don't, they will have already set their expectations about you, based on past experiences.

    And most often, those experiences haven't been good for them.

    By the way - a result is NOT how many sign ups you get on your capture page. Those are vanity metrics. People sign up on pages to download reports, not read emails. <=== That's important too.

    Some use it but it really can depend on what is your product niche and what kind of customers comes to your site.

        I guess the sales page must try to convince the visitor about the product and gives them a chance to contact them. On the other hand landing page should tell the visitor who you are and the products offered.

        A landing page is simply the page that a visitor to your site first "lands" on. For most general websites (with content), that's likely to be the home page.

        The confusion probably arises from the fact that many internet marketers only have a sales page (to sell a product) or a capture page (to collect visitor info, such as an email address) as their site. In those cases either type of page is effectively their landing page.

    Although you have two questions in one, I will choose to talk about testimonials. The landing page determines whether the visitor spends an extra second on your website or not. So, the latest trend is to have testimonials posted there. It helps the visitor to gloss over what people think about you. It helps to convince them to buy your products.
