Which Is The Most Successful IM Strategy?

Internet marketing has become key in determining whether a business moves to the next level or stagnates. Content, Search engine optimization, web analytics, and social media are some of the options internet marketers have. In my opinion, social media tops the chat. It enjoys a host of advantages such as sharing content within networks and allowing people to comment and give views. In your perspective how would you rank Content, SEO, Web analytics and social media? Where do you think businesses should focus most of their energies?

I'd rank it in the ff order:

    1. Content - what's the point of having a good campaign if content is trash?
    2. Social media - not that it's the trend, but socmed is undeniably ubiquitous.
    3. Web analytics - stats don't lie.
    4. SEO - still classic; how can people know your brand if you can't be seen on major search engines? (Google, Bing, and Yahoo)

In other words, they are all important and so marketers must focus on all aspects right?

You can also add email marketing in your list, for retargeting the existing customers and targeting new customers through the mail.

By the way, I have heard plenty of people praise email marketing for moving their business to the next level. I am considering starting a thread on this so that we can accurately rate it.

Proper targeting, because EVERYTHING after that, no matter how good it is, will be either wildly effective, or moderately effective.

Show me 1000 people who are struggling to make sales in their business, and I'll show you 1000 people who got their targeting wrong from the start.

So how would you rank the above strategies if asked to place them on the cardinal scale?

The most successful strategy is to simply serve others IMO. Help them find solutions to problems they face.

From that list I'd rank content as #1.

Great, it confirms the relatively old saying that content is still the king and it is hard to substitute it right?

    The one Amazon used.
    Literally the "most successful".
    That's the secret!

Now all you have to do is be the first one to notice next time a market is growing by 2000% per year.

EDIT: I don't have anything to do with the guy that posted the video and don't promote (or care) about whatever he's trying to sell... I just searched Youtube for the video I remember watching years ago and that's the link I found.

It's really not that complicated, he says it early in the video: They were among the first, and they were among the best. Now they're both. That's really all there is to it:

            1. Be the first

Of course. When you're the first in a new market or distribution method, there is little competition, so your marketing requires less money and effort and for much better results. Once all the other marketers figure out you can make money there, the cost of everything goes up, and the effectiveness goes down.

Imagine the first people who learned to SPAM, and the first ones to figure out a methodical approach to SEO, and the people who adopted AdWords early on... Everything was extremely effective and relatively inexpensive.

Now there is competition in those methods in almost every possible niche, meaning the work you do and the money you have to spend to be "most successful" is quite a bit more. Before you were speeding down a back country road-- Now those methods are like sitting in heavy traffic on the tollway.

Being "Best" will always win over being "First" in anything that goes on a long time. Eventually, if you're a better driver, you're going to get in front of all of those Toyota drivers that are clogging-up traffic. And even if you were first, and made a lot of money early on, if you don't maintain the highest levels of quality, you will get passed by everyone who does.

So if you're going to compete in a normal market, using the common marketing strategies, the question you have to ask yourself is, how do I beat Amazon? Or Alibaba, or whoever is dominating your market.

But to answer your original question, "What is the most successful" the answer really is to be the first in the market, and to be the best at every aspect of a complete business model. If you can do both, you're golden.

***Apologies to anyone who drives a Toyota. Also, please get out of my way!

Obviously, to a greater extend, it depends on the business in question. But consider a new business that is depending on traffic for conversion which strategy would you employ first?

Digital fishing nets and sticky digital mouse traps .

Who buys your stuff . Now figure out which platform online they use and get your adds in front of them. Or create content that.t gets them to stick around and binge consume it . Or come back on a regular basis to consume more . But have the monitization figured out ahead of time.

And figure out your own ways of dealing with the people who get but hurt at your trying to make money giving them stuff they want .

Search Engine Optimization is one of the most successful strategy in Internet Marketing. SEO helps you to make your website rank higher in all the search engine platforms. Also, it drives traffic to your website. Apart from SEO, Social media is also one of the most successful strategy in Internet Marketing nowadays.

I wonder why you didn't list other strategies such as paid advertising, email marketing, and partnerships?

If you are looking for the best strategy but you limit the options people can choose to four, you aren't likely to come up with the best.

I'd be more interested in learning about the mix that different types of businesses use. For example, some exclusively use paid methods (little to no content, SEO, social media, email) while some do 50% paid and then 50% spread over the other four or five.

I think you can learn a lot about a business by their marketing mix.

For example, an SEO company that only buys ads while not succeeding with SEO may make me nervous.

Or a healthcare organization that uses AdWords almost exclusively but still not getting the end results they need should add which strategy(ies)? And, how does that compare to a hairstylist struggling with their bread and butter of social media because of falling engagement. What's the right mix for them?

It highly depends on the moment of Customer Journey (i.e. in AIDA). For sure, SEO could provide top results for your site, but if it lacks of a decent content, the next step of the journey would be aborted. At a reverse situation, no matter how good your conent and site is, without a proper traffic, all the work will be piontless. So, in fact IM is a real eco-system and you can't extract a thing from it. But, if try to rank the core value, I'do like that:
    1. Content
    2. SEO + site quality
    3. Search Ads

Can't see SMM as a tool as it's a whole different thing with its own SEO, content and Ads. Essential? Yes, it is, but hard to camare with traffic tools.

Mobile marketing is good but it will not work for all niches. And again, there are plenty of huddles in that it may not be appropriate if you want to target the entire world.

I have found the fastest way to break into any hotly competitive (ie lucrative) niche is to tap into networks which are already marketing to your targeted prospects. AKA - content marketing on steroids.

For example, provide engaging content to niche-relevant blogs, ezines, newsletters, and offline publications such as industry/trade magazines and newspapers.

In my experience, there is nothing more effective than articles syndicated to online/offline publications which already have an established base of subscribers. Editors of these publications are often hungry for quality content.

For any given commercially viable niche, there are generally hundreds - or perhaps even thousands of subscriber-based online/offline publications and industry association newsletters suitable for siphoning qualified traffic to a relevant offer or product.

In my not so humble opinion, this strategy of using content marketing for building network partners (otherwise known for many decades as article syndication) utterly bypasses the competition in SEO, social media, and perhaps every other marketing media.

I think the most successful model for online businesses is User Generated Content. All social media, Google, eBay, Amazon and even the Warrior Forum all use UGC.

Some good thinking! I think we should then incorporate user generated content in our marketing strategies.

Erlinda, absolutely! The social media is soon going to determine the business that grows and one that stagnates. No wonder it has now become common for google to tell you to open with facebook, G+ and so forth.

I appreciate but how do you do that? I mean should one use SEO, forums, social media or which one?

So here we are talking about SEO right? Be it on website, social media or whatever you may choose. Content is still the king.

True, facebook alone enjoys a massive 2 billion subscribers. So if we add other social media, you can reach a wider market.

It enjoys a host of advantages such as sharing content within networks and allowing people to comment and give views. In your perspective how would you rank Content, SEO, Web analytics and social media? Where do you think businesses should focus most of their energies?
An interesting thought and this compels us to think what exactly we are doing. The future of Internet marketing, though we are thinking is going to be social media, but I doubt in that. The reason being, now most of the user on social media is with fake identity, holding multiple accounts and passing out information which is useless. That's the reason why everyday data loss issues, hatred messages etc are top news headlines. Moreover, keeping all this in mind Stubleupon closed its platform, Huffingston post stopped accepting guest posts and most of the social media sites disallow links and all.

With all this, social media is going to lose its charm in coming days. Then what would be the future of Internet Marketing? The future is going to be blogging, reviews, SEO, videos and highly engaging content. That's all. If your content has quality, it is going to be ranked anyhow.

If we look at the most successful sites on the Web, it's more accurate to say User Generated Content is King and it's biggest influence on SEO is that Google itself uses User Generated Content.

Google actually is just a marketing newcomer, using a comparatively much diluted subset of proven centuries-old content marketing. The newly minted term "User Generated Content" coined for online advertising, pales in the real marketing power of original content contributors for syndication and branding through online/offline mass media outlets and publishers. In terms of marketing scale and reach, Google and SEO are still relatively insignificant.

Yes it is but I want to differ with you that it will reign forever. Videos are coming up fast and I believe they may overtake content.

So far, the written word has reigned supreme for thousands of years over any other media, and even video is still far behind in its dust.

Video may be appropriate for attracting attention and demonstrating a product/service, but written pieces are much more valuable when you're further along in a sales cycle.

This is especially true in businesses where sale cycles are long and a lot of thinking has to go into exploring a solution before a client or a prospect makes a decision about a purchase.

A picture may be worth a thousand words and video can capture attention very quickly, but sometimes the recall of a video is fleeting and not as indelible as a written document that goes into great detail about a certain subject.

Video does have its place, but the written word is ultimately essential at every marketing level for optimum audience engagement, including within video promotions and all social media communications.

I throw in the towel, you have explained it all. Let me add that it is easier to share written content than it is with video. So it gives written content an upper hand.

This has been my own experience in over 22 years of IM for generating massive quantities of highly convertible traffic within some of the most hotly competitive markets. The written word is extremely powerful going head to head against any other form of content marketing, and can quickly bypass even the most entrenched or deep-pocketed "professionals".

However, I also complement my promotions with video, but there are far more platforms available for distribution and laser-targeting prospects through written content. At best, video is an adjunct for effective writing. I would add that graphics and video can enhance written content, but ultimately written words are what engages, motivates, and drives action.

I think you could have a panel of experts on a stage all successful in totally different approaches to I.M. Video, Webinars, Influencer, Blogger etc.

But I think what will separate a person from the pack are...

Are the assets on own Domain.

      High Ticket is incorporated.

      Recurring income element integrated.

Database/Email list that is Google proof, trends proof, and T.O.S. proof.

I read this post for the third time and I stopped to think. We are so much focused on what works but we forget to look at the other side. of the coin. So I am in agreement that building a rapport and building credibility will produce better results than any other strategy.

        That's a very good advice.

Too many affiliate focus on getting sales that are one time. When you get a one time sale, you have to keep bringing new sales all the time. Once you stop marketing, your income stops too.

With affiliate programs that pay you residual and monthly recurring commissions, your income will grow every single month when you bring in new sales. That's how you can have $100, $500, and over $1,000 per day from new sales and older sales that pay you like clockwork every single month.

I agree, email marketing still ranks high when it comes to generating leads it has the highest ROI especially when you look at it from the cost point of view.

I guessed when I entered this thread that there would be 100's of different answers to that question and i was right

Its always the case that each person who found away to market there products successfully thinks there way is the best way.

My way in a nutshell is a free front end and then upsell prospects as they go through my sites, there will be people here who will say freebie seekers dont buy.

But im here to tell you they do, you just have to find innovative ways to set out your stall and find the right words to frame the sale.

I can tell you... once you find a way (even if its a small way to start) jump on it and rinse and repeat until you get to be good at it Dont flop around trying 50 ways to do this find one and stick to it

You are right Robert. It is human nature to praise a strategy that works for you. So everyone is entitled to what they think is the best. Freebies are as good as other strategies. It all depends where you are and what you are doing.

All the parts like content, website design, social media, seo and so on matters a lot, but just imagine if you really mastered all the parts which I mentioned, but you don't stick to what you are doing, what is your business, you eventually will fail. What I mean is you need to stick with your business and don't give up. This is the main and most important im successful strategy, if you start affiliate business, you have everything(good content, correct on and of site seo, perfect graphics on your website) but after few months you give up and start a new business, this way you will always fail. Just stick with what you are doing until you succeed, never give up.

    Results-based marketing. Let me explain:

    1) Get 100 visitors to you site or 100 members to your Fb group. Now write a guide on how you did it, and show proof.
    2) Make 7 sales to the 100 visitors. Now write a guide for it.
    3) Rinse and repeat. Rinse and repeat.
