Daft Keyword question?

I feel daft for asking, but hope you can help.

If i have the targetted keyword "golf courses" and the longer keyword "best golf courses"

When i write posts ad articles can I just use "best golf courses" within the subject matter knowing that both the keywords are being used.

Or
do I have to have a mix of the two keywords in the post for google to find it.

I'm sure its the first but wanted warrior confirmation

It really depends many times you will write a post aimed at providing content on a particular topic and find that you get picked up in the search engines for that post on another keyword phrase you had in the post

Golf Courses is very general, it could cover any multitude of topics

Best Golf Courses is more specific

If i was you I would use your keyword phrasing as secondary in your content creation, meaning do get too bogged down with wondering will i rank for this or that. Aim to create quality and value

Remember to always keep it under 3% keyword density too!
