I got thousands of clickthroughs and "Likes" but no result, what's wrong?

NO idea what went wrong. Not enough information. However, I want to share with you an old world, MAIL ORDER or Remote Direct Marketing method to analyze both success and failure.

It comes from Ben Suarez, who built a 100 million dollar a year company based on these four ideas.

Look at each of these FOUR areas. On a scale from one to ten, then all have to be a ten to get success, when any one of them is below a 10, you will get mediocre results.

Getting your results means probably more than one is low rated.

The big FOUR are:

product
prospect
promotion
media

It appears you may have the wrong prospect targeted, although the click thoughs migh indicate it does hold some interest for them

so, once they get there...they either don't like the PRODUCT or
don't BELIEVE the promotion. I don't believe 70% off, never. Unless there is a good reason, and the crisis doesn't warrant it for most things.

OR your media is off, you are spending money in the wrong place.

So take a moment and look clearly at these four things. Rate them. One of them is OFF.

It may or may not help you, but if you don't know how to analyze your marketing efforts, how will ever know what to adjust and change?

You got 1000 click throughs from your Google ads? So we can assume the ad itself is working. However, is the expectation of the ad met on the landing page? Lander intent has to match ad intent right? So lets use an example here search "Xcarve" and look for the ad from inventables.com. Ad says "Worlds Easiest CNC System" and what does the headline of the page say once you clicked on it? - You guessed it "Worlds Easiest CNC System" THIS ad meets expectations of what to expect on the lander page.

With this in mind, the whole 70% off and Pandemic this and that I can venture to say is hurting you ( UNLESS - you are using this type of wording in your ad ) People are clicking on an ad due to interest.. and you are trying to snake oil salesman them. See what happens pulling those elements out of the ad.

How easy is it to buy? Again using the Xcarve example... land on the page and "Get Started" is right there with the option to scroll down and read more. Is the lander trying to sell what has already been "Sold" in the mind of the consumer? IE Oh I want to buy that and they land on a long windbag of a landing page with scroll after scroll of sales sales sales and then ooo ahhh 70% off because of the pandemic.. and its the same price as if I search elsewhere? If THIS is the case... no you will not get any sales.

Now you are also suggesting you are trying to get traffic from IG and facebook as well? Just because I have to ask... are you using the same lander or 3 different ones based on the platform you are using? I know you are only using one... and that is an issue.

I will assume you are using the video in the ad... and then I will bet you are using the video as a post on Facebook... so the same video 2x? make sense?

IG traffic is different from Facebook traffic.. its going to generally be younger in nature - so the language of the lander would change and you are coming from an image platform, so a video is fine, but images are probably better - or at the very least the combination of the 2

and it may not be any of that.. it could be your checkout process sucks... Do you know your abandoned cart percentage?

Like GordonJ said it could be many things.. so unless you have a way to understand A where all the traffic is coming from ( and saying Ads, IG and Facebook is not really an answer ) but can you tell me how many from each? and which one has what percentage of abandoned cart?

I would say right now you have a cluster of data that will be useless to you because you used only one lander. you wont know what platforms traffic is doing what, and how to adjust.

Just remember - you have yet to lose any money here.. you simply are paying for an education. And a couple hundred dollars is a small price to pay for an end resultof education that can make you 1000's over and over.

what are your prices?...maybe people think you are overpriced?

Great shares on the topic. I would personally want to actually see the entire set up before offering an opinion but I do know whether it is paid or free all efforts would lead to getting that email address as PRIORITY for multiple chances to close and or even survey prospects for exactly what they would pay for.

Sometimes it's a technical error...is the shopping cart working properly? We had a similar issue for a while and then found out that the CMS caused the issues.

1- I think you should take baby steps and learn how 1 advertising platform works and get it working for you.

2- Your ad needs to perk curiosity about a Problem (and a possible solution).

3- Your landing page needs to zero in on the problem (through expanding on the problem).

4- Make sure to remove all non relevant links on the landing page. You want all potential customers to stay focused here and now.

5- Collect Emails: Your landing page should entice them to get more info about your solution to 'their' problem that they're concerned about.

6- After opting in for further info (about your solution to their problem) immediately redirect them to a sales page outlining your product as their problem solver).

7- A great product. Is this product something you would buy yourself?

8- Follow Up Emails: You will need to follow up with them over a series of emails since most people don't purchase at the very first time they see your product.

Did you optimize your cpc campaign? Setting up adgroups around certain keywords. Don't be to broad in your list. Work on optimizing a squeeze page for the conversion. Follow googles guidelines for your landing pages. Its all a numbers game and we can't start at the end. Takes time.

In my experience, there are 3 things that could be here.


1. The current world situation is making a lot of businesses not work well.

2. The copy you have on your landing page is not compelling enough.

3. Your ads are not specific enough and people expect something else when they click on your website.


I think you should develop some SEO traffic towards your offer with targeted articles, so you get an influx of people that are actually looking for what you have to over.

Also, double check that copy before spending more money on ads because it might be awful.

From my experience working with companies on these problems, it could be a fatal combination of many problems, and throwing more money on ads is not going to solve it.

In fact, it's a sign you should stop paying for ads until you fix this!

Then test the improvements with small daily budgets.

Only after you see it work you pump big money into ads.

Social media likes means nothing! You can have thousands of likes on IG and not make one sale with the audience if they are bots or people that are not interested in your product.

If you have been getting clickthroughs and likes, I would not see it as a product issue nor audience misfit.

Perhaps the promotion mechanics for your product is not in alignment with your target audience. Your price also has to be pretty spot on to understand the consumers' mindset in term of the price that the consumers are ready to accept (ie. price threshold).

Which product you promoting ? If it's affiliate product you first check your affiliate network! Some affiliate network managers taking small marketers small commissions. Some scam affiliate networks stealing affiliate commissions. Specially around of health and beauty area.

I think there should be problem in your landing page. May I know what was your objective on the landing page like page visits or form fills? So that I can give you my thoughts.

I would recommend to review the checkout process. If it is zero sales even with decent traffic then it has got to be something with checkout

Firstly, test the performance of your marketing campaign by setting up goal tracking. Give it some time to figure out if it is going to work or not. Test your campaign landing page. The most important thing to be remembered while running a campaign is to identify your target audience and increase customer engagement towards your product. Also, help your customers understand how your product is valuable to them. Think about online SEO marketing as well to increase your brand awareness.
Have better planning for next time.

There are alot of reasons your campaign ended like this. What locations were you targeting? What was your price? What were you keywords and bids and matvh types? Did generate any leads from the people who visited your site? How good was the sales copy??

You need to realize that you can spend hundreds and even thousands of dollars on Facebook or Google Advertising, yet without being able to show anything for it in terms of conversion and sale. The reason is that you are supplied with the wrong audience - people who don't have interest in what you do or sell. And that's why you need to rather build organic traffic by exploring a blog.

6000+ likes is really good engagement that means Ad/Landing page was really good. I think instead of selling immediately, it will be better to capture the leads and increase your targeted email list. Then using followup emails with autoresponder , you might see some good conversion but it will take some time. People generally dont buy on first instance, they see the ads again and again and then they become curious to try the products .

Also, it is likely that those clicks and likes were all from the wrong audience. It is tricky at the moment especially when almost everyone is finding solace in the social media.

This has been mentioned up top, but if your ad got clicks, that's a step in the right direction.

Now you have to look under the hood of your landing page, and pick it apart. Maybe you have to re-tool your copy. Maybe you have to re-do your offer.

The main thing to keep in mind is you're not experiencing anything new. Everyone, including myself, has had an offer or copy that fell flat, and now you have that feeling that you have to start from scratch again. Not necessarily. But you have to make some changes.
