Old Domains -- What do you do with them?

So, I've got three domains that I'm not doing anything with at the moment. Two are PR2 and one is PR3. They get between 25-40 visitors a day each.

I haven't done anything with them in years so I thought I'd get some ideas from others. They are in three different niches, totally unrelated.

What do you all do with your domains that have a little PR and traffic, but not much else going for them?

Should I turn them into Adsense sites or is there anything more creative I could do them?

  • I'd definite plop some AdSense ads on them. If your keywords are worth anything, 25-40 visitors a day could put an extra couple hundred bucks in your pocket every month.

    You could sell them, too.

I think I'll skip the porn, thanks.

      Any other non-porn ideas?

Can you ramp up or is it a dead end niche?

Outside of a dog, a book is a man's best friend. Inside of a dog it's too dark to read.

Very, very unlikely to generate more than a hundred a month. Maybe a dollar a day, at most.

Build them up into proper websites.. add content, promote them, get affiliate sales.

I will go with Rebecca, but will add sale them off after getting some sales if you think you can not hold on to them.

I usually just drop them if they are not performing. I am an Adsense guy. Sometimes the magic just doesn't happen. You could work them into a bigger site, but is it worth the effort? Probably not, IMO.

I'd put them to good use and see where they go - hell, if you've already got the domains...

I don't really have any interest in turning them into full fledged sites as I've got my hands full right now. I just hate to let them expire as they do have some traffic and PR so I thought I'd see if others had some suggestions.

I can always hang on to them as it's only $10 a year to renew each one, but if I don't have a plan to really develop them should I just let them expire?

Depending on your hosting package, make sure that the IPs of the hosting on each domain is different and back link your active sites. I'm always interested in quality backlinks so any opportunity to create one is a good one.

Other than that, ads for your other sites, on your other sites. If that makes sense. It's a nobrainer. Links to blogs, social networking pages, email address, plus adsense and other affiliate information.

Put them to work for you!

You could even create several .htm or .php extentions and use a complete new set of SEO keywords (still on topic) to cover a more broad spectrum.

That's one of my most productive tips. My index has my bread and butter optimization but my products.htm and all other sections have their own unique keywords and descriptions in the meta tag file. All related to the content but I cover over 200 variations of keywords without saturation because I only use 8 or 9 per actual "page". If that makes sense.
