What are good practices to make sure action-items get followed through after meetings?

Meetings keep us occupied throughout the day. There are lots of action items being discussed, so what do you do to ensure these are followed-through and not just forgotten?

    The real honest and true answer... if you are given an "Action Point" and its not completed.. it happens about 2 times maybe and that person is fired. I'm not kidding either about this. You say you are going to do something, OR you are asked/told to do something and it doesn't get done, I have no use for you - BYE BYE!

    I thought the whole point of quitting our day jobs and making
    money online is so that we don't have to attend meetings or
    engage in the other useless time-wasters regular workers do.

    Listen - meetings have one purpose, to collaborate on solving a problem (the agenda), getting on the same page, and generation actions to perform from the team. Make sure the ACTIONS are specific to a visual end result i.e. WHAT does the result look like when completed right? If your action items aren't specific to a result that can be visually (explicitly) be verified, then you might have a lot of confusion, procrastination, delay etc. because the team member might be confused or stuck solving the problem of what to do next, but too proud to admit it. Be gentle. Be clear and specific about the problems you're addressing and the result/fix you want and your skilled team members can use their experience and skills to fill in the the gaps towards that end - good luck~

    Frankly, no great good follows from assemblin' casts of thousands to define their own limbo.

    Hey, but in ansah to the rignl question -- less'n the actschn items are viable, permissible, & desirable, nowan ain't wanna go do 'em.

    Simply "meetin' up" ain't no framework for nuthin'.

    Anywan can go to a bar to get that schwango.

    Meetings so often are a communion of anchor draggin' by people seekin' to define their myootyool stuck point without realisin' it is actschwlly thusselves.

    Agendas are rarely incendiaries this way.

    I think follow ups are necessary after meetings. In some cases a checklist can help too.

    The human mind has a lot of thoughts, some that can get lost due to other things taking more importance at the time.

    Sometimes writing things down can help but following up on what was actually discussed and creating an action plan for it can really help.
