Google search itself... upper Left... "About X amount of results" anywhere under 1,000,000 would be low comp.

Once you have established a number of page 1 serps for the site... then start playing with terms in the 5,000,000 group, and get page one rank, and then jump to 7,500,000 etc etc.

Build the pattern of page 1 serp listings, starting with the lowest of low fruit and build your site DA, that in turn allows to get page 1 listings for terms with more traffic.

If you are doing this in reverse and shooting for terms with 60,000,000 results - your SEO efforts will take years

I prefer using SEMrush and Answer the public for researching low competition keywords.

  • Try hangin' around with vanilla people who are totally unremarkable in evry respect.

Low competition phrasin' spews from 'em like the glisten of death on a sweaty corpse.

I use and like SpyFu. And it's low cost compared to similar programs on the web. I use it more for seo than ppc.

    I use a few tools.

The free SEMRush is nice but obviously limited. I'm not making enough money to justify upgrading to a premium membership on SEMRush or Aherfs.

I recently purchased Uber Suggest. It's okay but it seems a little glitchy at times and I sort of question the data on certain keywords but maybe I'm not using it right.

    I really like "Keywords Everywhere".

Of course, I use Google Search Console, the adword keyword tool, trends, and the actual search suggestions and People also ask section on Google.

So far, I've had enough success by using these tools. I do more research searching than anything else.

I pay close attention to social media to see what common questions people are asking and how much they ask the same question.

That is usually what initiates my keyword selection.
