Try concentrating for 15 minutes at a time. Decide on a task that you will be doing, set up a timer, and do only that. Do not be tempted to check your email during that time, turn off Skype, and make sure nobody interrupts you. You will be surprised at how much you can do in 15 minutes. And you might really get into the task and work on it for longer.

Do this a few times each day, and you will get stuff done.

Here's what I do. Get a journal, paper, anything.

Make a list of everything you think you should get done by the end of that day.

And I mean anything, that means outside of the computer as well. If you can't concentrate, go do something else somewhere and come back.

My lists usually get around 2/3rds completed. Mainly cause I list things I either can't go do, or its just a think to get my mind off of work for a while and there is no real solution for me. It works, let me tell you.

Just make a checklist, and see how that works.

I agree with BuildingFutures, make a list! Write a good list out the night before of what you want to get done the next day. As you complete each, cross it off (that part feels good).

    Working from a list works!

Put a small note above your monitors computer that says "STAY FOCUS" everytime you get distracted you'll see it.

EVen as a wallpaper you could make an image that says this... so everytime you'll see it you'll get focus again!

I find lists overwhelming. I like "east that frog" approach where I pick one really truly imporant item that will produce results (not just keep me busy) and do it. Even if I did not do anything beside that item I'm happy and productive.
Pick the item before you go to bed in the evening, so you know what to focus on next day. Best of luck!

    Hey

Yes it can be difficult because there is so much on offer and so much info so getting distracted is very very easy,

You need to decide what you are going to do before you start.

Write a list or quick special mission and just get it done, play time can only begin when you have completed your tasks.

I completely understand your problem though

    Good Luck

I stay focused (sort of) and get the most accomplished when I make a list. I make a list of only the top three or four things I need to do that day for morale reasons. If I put three things on a list and get all three things done, I feel like I accomplished something. With a shorter list, I often find I do a few extra things that weren't on the list which makes me feel even better. If I put ten things on the list and only do eight or nine, I feel like I failed.

This is a common problem. What I like to do is step away from the computer whenever possible and do my creative work in a notebook. There are fewer distractions. Good luck.

Well, in this case your biggest enemy is you. Its up to you figure out what always distract you and learn to stay away from it. For instance if it your TV, then try finding a secluded area when working. If it your family, you should let them know that what you are trying to achieve is for all of you.

Lastly i think 30mins is too small. Try working at an hour to two.

    Goodluck
