I'd appreciate opinions re promoting a blog. At the moment I have a wordpress blog Dog Worldwide - and it is bringing me in a certain number of hits each day. By no stretch of the imagination could you say it was a big number (but I'm working on it )

Anyway what I'm trying at the moment is this. I've opened up a similar sounding blog at Blogger with the address: Dogs Worldwide What I'm trying at the moment is posting the first paragraph or so on the Blogger blog and then adding a link saying: READ THE REST OF THE ARTICLE HERE! when a reader clicks on the link it brings them to the main Wordpress blog.

Is this a sensible approach or will Big G think I'm trying a fast one. If it is a sensible approach any suggestions as to how I might improve it would be greatly welcomed. Feel free to take a look and tell me what you think

I don't think this is worthwhile. You might even be diluting your chances of ranking higher for the Wordpress blog, by introducing a 'competitor'.

If you are after an increase in traffic, just make sure that your content is captivating and original. Once you've got an article that meets both these criteria, then start sending it to all of your peers and friends in the dog industry, and request that they link to your article. That way you'll not only get the benefits of back-linking for your SEO, but also, people will start stumbling across your site through the links on other sites, and will then see that your blog is a worthy information source!

Instead of doing this write your articles and submit then in Ezine or such... you'll gain time on achieving your main goal. At the end if you post on blogger you'd be wasting your time...

Yes, I agree. Spend your extra time submitting articles instead of with the other blog. Also, you have to remember that the area you chose has ENORMOUS competition. Your dog blog is very broad; that's going to be very hard to get traffic.

Honestly, if you had niched it out...say to something like "dog diabetes" only, you would have a much easier time of it and probably be getting a lot more traffic to it as we speak.

Let's say I go down that road and go for something like 'dog diabetes' is it best to scrap the content within my current blog and start all over again or just change direction, say get a new theme and just concentrate on a single niche from there on in with the other material sitting in my archive for anyone wanting to poke around?

Many thanks for the responses to date - I'm learning.

    Hi Sir/Madam,

I'm not sure if this would work but you could promote your individual articles on the site. Like maybe you could do some keyword research and write an article on a good keyword. Then build some links with articles.

To me setting up a blogger blog is only to let google take notice of you quickly and not so much on the ranking side because the blogger links might not have a lot of authority.

Anyway, as people come to your site through your targeted articles and search engine rankings, they would then look around your whole site.

Just my 2 cents. SEO gurus please correct me if I'm wrong!

    All the Best,
    Zack

I agree with others - do not waste your time doing this. Have a well keyword optimized blog instead, and get your articles from it, on article directories as well.

I see you have some time and can`t wait to get results (as SEO does take time). I suggest to just start another blog in another niche - and work on the same things for both of them. This way you will have double the results
