Sudden drop in my website rankings

Hello,

Since April 14, 2023, we've experienced a sudden drop in our website rankings. We had always been in the top positions for 3 years on our main keywords.

So I can't figure out what happened. Is this an algorithmic penalty because I didn't receive any notification for a manual action? Is this a bug or an update on Google?

For privacy reasons, we wish to keep our website anonymous.

To help you understand the situation, below is a list of important points and facts :

Our content is 100 % unique. It's High-Quality content written by a professional editorial team.
Our health score on several tools is still over 85%. We have reached 98% on some of these tools.
Our authority score is very good compared to our competitors.
Our backlinks are of very good quality. They are chosen carefully. We always keep an eye on our links and disavow any toxic or low quality link.

Due to a dishonest competition, we have been receiving many DMCA Takedown requests since July 2022. For each request we made DMCA counter notice and these are generally successful.
These fake DMCA Takedown requests became several and regular in March / April 2023. So, for the second time ( First time in July 2022) all our pages have been removed from Google search results. After making DMCA counter notice our pages are restored and our website is on Google search results again on April 12, 2023.
We recovered all our urls with their first positions. Everything was back to normal until April 14.

Now let me explain the current situation :

All of our pages are indexed. If we put "site: our website" all the pages are there.
This is a ranking problem : There are pages on the 2nd, 3rd, 6th, 8th ... page of Google search results and others that we can't find even on the last page.
As already mentioned, we were always in top position for all of our main keywords : We are a service company so our main keywords are in the form of "service name + city".
By using this query we cannot find our pages on the top results but we can find their images at first on Google Images search.
And by using " Our brand name + city" the pages come out in first position without any problem.
Our competitors have not been subject to this inconvenience. However I saw that a website under maintenance is ranking in first position. Is this normal ?

So if any of you can help us to detect the problem. I'll be thankful.

Thank you,

The algorithm is constantly changing and it's almost impossible not to lose position
    in the rankings .

What you should do is run a site audit so that you can pinpoint and fix the glitches and then see if that helps to improve your position which I do think would help tremendously ..

The ranking is dropping because of Google's new algorithm updates. We need to focus on the latest trends of SEO.

    Hello,

I understand that your website has experienced a sudden drop in rankings since April 14, 2023, and you are unsure of the cause. You have provided several important points and facts that could help identify the issue.

Based on the information you have provided, it seems like your website might have been affected by a recent Google algorithm update, which could have impacted your rankings. It is also possible that there could be a technical issue with your website, such as a bug, that is causing the drop in rankings.

Regarding the DMCA takedown requests, it is unfortunate that you have been receiving fake requests, but it is good to hear that you have been able to successfully submit DMCA counter notices. However, it is worth noting that receiving a high number of DMCA takedown requests can sometimes trigger a manual review of your website, which could potentially lead to a penalty if any violations are found.

Since your website is still indexed and your content is of high quality, it might be worth reviewing your backlink profile to ensure that there are no toxic or low-quality links that could be impacting your rankings. Additionally, it might be helpful to conduct a thorough site audit to identify any technical issues that could be affecting your website's performance.

Regarding the website under maintenance that is ranking in first position, it is possible that Google has temporarily given it priority due to the maintenance status of other websites in that particular search query.

I hope this information helps, and I wish you the best of luck in resolving this issue.

Google is always changing those those algorithms so the best way to counter them is to use some paid advertising from them. I keep mine at the bare minimum. Google doesn't bite the hand that's feeding them. But I would be using Diib. Thats what I have to monitor my sites for things like that. I don't really focus on ranking but the end sale

Due to the latest Google algorithm update and competitors are constantly trying to copy strategies for better ranking, it will be better to keep updated with the latest SEO trends. Of course thorough site audit required to find out what keeps you down.

I have observed from the last 2 to 3 months that the organic traffic to my website is coming majorly from my GMB listing page. My website's rankings dropped significantly but the GMB page ranking improved.

I'm sorry to hear that you are experiencing a sudden drop in your website rankings. There could be several reasons for this, and it can be frustrating to see your hard work undone. Here are some possible reasons why your website's rankings could have dropped:
    - algorithm updates (search engines like Google regularly update their algorithms, and if your site is not aligned with the latest algorithm updates, it could negatively affect your rankings)
    - technical issues (check your site errors, broken links, slow loading speeds, or mobile responsiveness issues. Search engines prefer websites that are technically sound and user-friendly)
    - on-page optimization (missing or duplicate meta tags, poor keyword optimization, or low-quality content can negatively impact your website's rankings)
    - backlink issues (check whether your site has low-quality backlinks or spammy links)
    - competitor activity (if your competitors are doing better than you in terms of on-page optimization, content quality, or backlink profile, it could lead to a drop in your site's rankings).
My advice is to conduct a thorough analysis of your website and identify the root cause of the issue. In case you don't know how to do this and how to solve the problem, it is better to address professionals. I had a great experience with Rank Engine https://rankengine.io They did a great job and my website's rankings increased in a short period.

Algorithms always change and you just can't rely on the search engines to keep your business going all the time.

That is why you always have to look for other ways to market your website/business.

Having multiple streams of TRAFFIC is the way to go.

It is hard to see our websites lose rank in Google search results.

The latest Google Core update was in March. I believe the rank changes to your website is due to the March core update.

It seems like you stay up-to-date with your search engine progress, but you should find other ways to get traffic to your website. Are you relying on SEO alone to get traffic to your website? Unfortunately unethical competitors will do things to ruin your marketing efforts, so implementing paid advertising (for example) can bring you a steady stream of traffic - assuming your product/service converts well and gives you a high profit margin on each sale.

A recent change to the search algorithm is the most frequent reason for a sharp decline in website traffic. Other valid explanations for a decline in website traffic include penalties, redirection, erroneous robots.txt regulations, and ranking losses.
