Any new ways of backlinking?

I have been trying to find some new or untapped backlinking tactics that I may have overlooked that would be able to move the rankings needle. I have been really hurting when it comes to building up a link portfolio any fresh ideas that are easy and effective would honestly make my day.

Hey Absolute, I feel you on that, it's getting harder to find backlink tactics that actually move the needle. Lately, I've been experimenting with reverse image search to track down uncredited image uses (like infographics or original blog images) and request backlinks, it's surprisingly effective if you've published any visuals before.

I actually just set up a page yesterday for people to use images that I have made in the past if they add a citation somewhere in the page. I did it for my attorney client because I personally know how hard it is to find images for posts.

Why is it hard to find images when you can develop a.i.-generated ones in five seconds?

Not everyone knows how to use it and some/most require you to buy subscriptions. Not to mention they don't always work out when you ask for certain things.

There are free ones and they work great.

I am not making excuses, in fact I use them for images myself. Did you read my reply? I am saying not everyone is using AI generators. Besides I like to this some of the images I have made over the years are kind of nice.

I'm not referring to "everyone" but to internet marketers
that use A.I.-generated images for their business.

I use those images for a number of projects, and every
once in awhile the output is crummy but it is usually
                amazing.

                BTW, your websites look great.

If I were you, I would address the backlinking question
to ChatGPT, it might have some new ideas.

I agree using A.I. can almost replace your virtual assistant. Artificial intelligence makes online marketing so much easier. Almost everything an online marketer needs to use has A.I. built-in.

That's tough. I mean if I had something compelling enough to write about I would. I only handle 3 clients on the side. An attorney which isn't too bad to write content on, a place that does flooring and floor installation which is tough, and a metal roofer which is even tougher.

Same. I try crowd marketing, but Google is not stupid and profiles are constantly deleted. I write articles, but they are often not indexed by Google.

Hey, absolut503 and everyone else in this thread,

Been following this convo and wanted to chime in. I've been testing out a couple of angles lately that aren't too noisy yet. One that's working well is using community-driven question platforms like Quora or Reddit to seed soft mentions, not hard-sell backlinks but value-packed answers that link to a guide or stat resource I host. The trick is to be helpful first, link second.

Another tactic that's slowly picking up steam for me is collaborating with small newsletter creators. I reach out with a quick resource, infographic, or checklist that aligns with their niche and offer it exclusively for their audience in exchange for a credit. These micro-creators often don't get hit with requests and are more open to partnership-style backlinks than big media outlets.

Also, on the visual side, like you mentioned, curated directories that allow you to upload image packs or templates in exchange for credit are still gold if done right. Just make sure the platforms themselves are clean.

Anyway, appreciate the ideas in here. Always cool to see what's still working beyond the mainstream.

    Regards,
    Derek

Thanks for that. Anyway you can give me an example of the newsletter idea?

I have been doing some work with Reddit and Quora. I feel like it's something that can help with links and possible customers for clients.

I love the collaboration in the post though. I feel like too often people are unwilling to share, it's nice to see.

        Hey, absolut503

Absolutely, glad that part stood out to you. For the newsletter tactic, here's a simple way I approach it:

I look for independent newsletters on Substack, ConvertKit, or even curated LinkedIn/email-based ones with around 1K-10K subscribers -- these folks are usually not flooded with pitches. I reach out casually, offering a free asset that complements their niche, like:

A visual checklist (e.g. "10 Legal Mistakes Small Biz Owners Make" for your attorney client)

A DIY home flooring cost calculator (for your flooring client)

A short explainer PDF or infographic on metal roofing benefits or FAQs

I let them know it's exclusive and they're free to share it with their audience as long as they include credit with a backlink to the source (hosted on the client's site).

This approach works because it gives value to their audience without sounding promotional, and the backlinks feel organic.

I'm actually in the middle of doing a major backlink push for my site right now. One frustrating part is that with Google and other search engines, there's no exact timeline for when a backlink will begin to pass SEO value. Sometimes it gets indexed quickly, other times it could take weeks or even months, especially if the linking page has low crawl frequency. So it's kind of a waiting game even when you're doing everything right.

Let me know if you want some outreach templates -- I've tested a few that get solid open rates and replies.

        Cheers,
        Derek

Wondering if you can explain what you mean by this - AI-Powered Outreach - Use tools for smarter skyscraper link building.

Is there an AI out there that will do backlinking? That be amazing but I feel like if there was an easy way to do that everyone would be doing it and eventually Google would catch on and penalize you for it.

I kind of have a feeling that is the next shoe to drop, people that use AI for their content. I try to do a mix, so for a blog article I will use some content generated by AI followed by my own content.

  • Try some lesser-used but effective backlink tactics like HARO (Help a Reporter Out), submitting to niche directories, podcast guesting, or creating original data or infographics that others can reference. Also, consider finding broken links on relevant sites and offering your content as a replacement. Building genuine relationships in your niche can lead to organic backlink opportunities too.

  • Yes! A few fresh backlinking methods gaining traction:

New PR platforms like Terkel & Featured

AI-powered link gap tools for smarter outreach

Topical authority hubs that attract natural links

If you're still looking for something easy and effective, I'd take a look at the backlink service from FatJoe. They cover a bunch of tactics, from guest posts to niche edits, and it's all managed, so you don't waste time chasing opportunities yourself. Might not be "untapped" in the underground sense, but definitely underrated by people trying to do everything manually.

One method that's worked really well for me lately is using HARO (Help a Reporter Out). I signed up as a source, and whenever relevant queries come in, I send short pitches with insights. If accepted, I get high-authority backlinks from major news or niche sites. It takes a bit of consistency, but the links are legit and worth the effort. Definitely recommend giving it a shot!

Mini tools - Even basic calculators or checklists in your niche can attract embeds + links.

A lot of people still sleep on community-driven backlinks. Posting thoughtful content in niche forums, subreddits, or even Slack/Discord groups can get you noticed by bloggers who cover those spaces. Pair that with digital PR outreach, pitching a unique angle or commentary on trending news and you'll start landing links that don't feel manufactured. If you want to scale it up, digital PR agencies like( Edited by Moderator) have existing relationships with editors, but even without them, the DIY approach works if you're consistent

When we were building up the authority of our health testing site I spent way too long chasing random backlink schemes and it never moved the needle. What ended up working was creating genuinely useful resources (like symptom guides and intolerance checklists) that other sites naturally linked to. We also reached out to complementary niche bloggers and offered to write guest posts in exchange for a link. Those relationships took time to build but produced quality links that lasted. Hosting a webinar or being a guest on a podcast has also brought in some strong links. It's slower than blasting your link everywhere, but it's been much more sustainable for us.
