Analytics Code Problem

Hey everyone.

I saw there was a thread on google analytics just before this one, but it was on a completely different subject and did not want to hijack it.

I am trying to track a simple wordpress blog. It has one page, with 2 posts...one article and one review. I do not have hosting on it, and do not intend to buy any, so the analytics plugin is unabailable for me.

The google analytics website told me to post the given code immediately before the "</body>" tag, but I have no clue what this means.

Can someone explain this to me? Do I just copy and paste the code underneath the body of my article and review?:confused:...try to explain like you would a 5th grader because I have never been able to successfully install google analytics.

    Define "wordpress blog".

    Is it a Wp blog set up on your own domain/hosting? - Then edit the footer.php file in your theme.

    Or is it a blog hosted for free on wordpress.COM? - In this case forget it. You cannot do anything with the files.

    Its a blog hosted on the free wordpress.COM, so I guess I cannot do it on that site.

    What about if I had this same type of blog on a free blogger.com hosted site? Would I be able to install the anlytics in this case?

    I really want to just see what my average daily traffic is as I try out new ways of driving traffic to this blog.

    For wp.com blogs - you have stats in your dashboard: just click on the "Blog Stats" under Dashboard; left top.

    For blogger: use the HELP on analytics:
