Any Of You Technical People Know How To Do This?

I want to take a forum I have on SMF and move it over to V-bulletin, but I don't want to lose any of the information I already have over there as far as people being able to login without having to register again. All the posts and boards and stuff I want to just move over there too.

Anybody have any experience with this? I'm going to pay to have this done as well as set up a few new things over there, so if anyone knows how to do this, give me your rates

You'll need to outsource it to someone who has database experience. It's actually just a simple database transfer and sync.

LOL, come on man. You know what I do to this kind of stuff.

There's just some stuff I want to do with it that I don't think I can do with SMF. There's some features on this forum that I would like to put on mine, and I'm pretty sure I cant do it with SMF.

LOL .. SMF is limited and some things are not as nice as VB ... Was just curious why you wanted to switch ....

I would do the transfer for you but I have no time.. Maybe go make a post in the webdesign forum ..

    Bryan,
This would require matching up the database which is built 100% different.. It can be done but would require some time to do. A script would have to be created (unless you get a coder that has already created one for this purpose) and then the accounts would have to be transfered.

Best bet is to find someone that has already created a script for this, otherwise it may end up cost you $100 or more just for the accounts to be transfered. If you are looking at transfering all post and etc then it will get into a more cplex script and cost a great deal more...

    Hey Bryan,

What you're looking for is vBulletin's ImpEx Import System.

This is what it can import from SMF.

It even has it's own support forum.

Looks pretty straightforward, take a backup and follow the manual.

Funny thing though, a lot of people seem to want to go the other way.

    Cheers,
    Phil.

      Awesome, thanks Phil.

Now I just need to find someone to do it for me, cause I will screw it up

Why do you think a lot of people want to go the other way though? Can't you do more stuff with v-bulletin than SMF?

vBulletin has something called Import/Export (ImpEx).

It'll help you do that but if you're not good at the technical sides, I'd recommend outsourcing it to someone.

Yea, I know better than to try and do it myself. there's a 100% chance that I will screw it up beyond repair. I've learned not to screw with stuff that has anything to do with anything technical.

Anybody done this before that knows how to do it? I'd rather outsource it to someone here, than going to rent a coder or somewhere else.

Whatever you do, take multiple backups before you start the export process
