I've often wondered what the result is for purchasing a domain name that is not an exact match. I realize that the exact domain name will place higher..I'm curious to see if any one has any statistics on how competitive you might be if place something like "the" in front of your name..

For instance if your looking for moneymaker.com
will you place in the results for themoneymaker.com?

I've heard both sides of the argument but never have seen any information to back it up...

my experience has been that it works better if you put the additional word after the keyword. So if your keyword is money maker. then your site should be moneymakerguide.com or something. That's just been my experience that it works better that way for me.
