Best Domain Name, and monetization model

Whenever I look to create another 'rinse and repeat' website or blog, I usually do my keyword research, and come up with a couple of potentially profitable ideas for a keyword, and then I go and search for a decent domain name containing that keyword, either with or without hyphens.

Question I have is, does it make any difference whether you use a .com domain (which through Godaddy costs $10) or something like a .info domain which costs 89cents. To data, I've been buying up .info domains, and then just setting up a wordpress blog with that .info domain name. I realize the resale value isnt great for a .info domain, but I figure if it's a decent enough revenue generator, then at least its got to be worth something to sell as a working website.

Does anyone have any thoughts around this, and also is it worth optimizing the site for just adsense, or would you also look to use some other monetization options?
