Testing your squeeze page (for newbies)

I used to be scared of using tools like Analytics or Website optimizer and I'm sure I'm not the only one. I just posted this for two reasons ...

1) To say it's a cut and paste job and very easy.
2) It's well worth while and quite satisfying because you learn lots.

At the bottom of the page is a thumbnail from my Optimizer account..

Lots of things I'd heard or listened to said that images will improve your squeeze page. Well the orange line is with an image and the blue line is without.

That certainly was the case to start with howver they're now pretty much neck and neck. I don't think much will change now and I think 'with the image' will win by a % or 2 eventually. Not a massive amount (and not worth worrying about if you're putting off going live with your squeeze page simply because you don't have an image or graphics).

Of course they're are other variables. Maybe the quality of the image sucks (another test) plus traffic has been coming from a variety of sources and I think that has definately had an impact on opt-in rates.

Either way ... it's interesting, easy and the only way to find out for yourself.

Give it a go.

Now the next question should be...

If you replaced the image with a short video saying why they should sign up, how would it rank among the other two?
