Can you "ping" a static HTML site?

Hi, there,

I know that blogs can be "pinged", but can you do this for a standard HTML site, too, and should you?

    sure...I use a site called html2rss.com

    which takes your html and converts it to rss.

    You can then ping the rss feed, submit it to feed aggregators etc...

    I believe icerocket.com is also another alternative..

    Yes, I ping all of my sites at Pingler.com, no matter if they are blogs, or static HTML sites.

    Usually my HTML sites are one page sales pages, and just by getting some backlinks, and pinging it, I can get them indexed and ranking in less than 24 hours!

    I believe you can ping any static URL. If you are going to be doing a lot of pinging like I do, I highly recommend you get some automated software to handle this in the background. Of course, if you're going to ping a few sites this is unnecessary. But when you're doing 1000s daily it's a huge time saver. I use PingMachine which is completely free.

    When pinging was created I used to ping all my pages manually - they were all static html at the time.

    Pinging is one of the reasons people like wordpress -it's built in so it's another thing you can do but don't have to spend time thinking about.
