I believe you will find many warriors telling you about the profitable products to promote. But you need to keep this fact in mind that product selection is just a first step towards affiliate marketing journey. The hard time comes when you are not able to bring quality traffic to your affiliate link. And the preliminary task to get high targetted and quality traffic is the KEYWORD RESEARCH.

If you are a newbie, and you don't have much expertise to work on high competitive keyword from scratch and lift it up to the first page of Google, you first need to target keywords that are profitable as well as less competitive. (50000 searches within inverted commas)

And for quick results on search engine you can use the platforms that are deemed authoritative in the sight of search to direct the traffic to your affiliate link or own affiliate review page. The authoritative platforms that rank higher and quicker in search engines are:

      1) Yahoo Answers (But you need to have an account of level 2 to leave links in the resource section of the answer)

      2) EzineArticles.com, GoArticles.com, ArticleBase.com (Article Directories)

      3) PRLog.com (Press Release)

      4) High PR Web 2.0 properties (Squidoo, Hubpages etc.)

Just make sure that you put good call to action in your referral pages.

      Products:
I have had great experiences with health products having enticing sales page. I'd suggest you to work on Clickbank product of Tinnitus. It have experienced the high conversation of that product. You can even go for Hemorrhoid relief product. I has high conversion but now the market has become pretty much competitive.

      Keyword Research:

No matter, what product you select, if you don't know how to do keyword research properly, then you won't be much successful. Just to serve this forum to the best of my abilities, I am offering you FREE Keyword Research consultancy to any of the product you select. The keywords will have the competition under "50000" and will have the atleast 30 SEO Traffic as suggested by Market Samurai. One of my better tested SEO software.

      What to do?:
      1. Make a review page on any of the authoritative web 2.0 properties. I'd suggest squidoo, blogger. And if you could afford a domain and hosting then wordpress blog is the best option.
      2. Pick at least one selected keyword phrase per day and writer 1 Article, 1 Press and post 1 Question to Yahoo Answer on that particular phrase.
      3. Use Press Release as a backlink for your review page and article page. Submit those press release to the handful of 20 PR directories that allow anchor text within the content.
      4. Track the search engine ranking result of those articles through Rank Checker Addon of Firefox.
      5. If you see articles or PRs being stick on 2nd, 3rd or 4th page on the selected keywords, create some backlinks through do-follow blog commenting or profile linking. Refer to my signature for backlink resource.
      Hope this helps you!

Remember this: As an affiliate marketer, you may not be actually selling the product (a pro that many marketers love because they hate to sell), but you can do your part to increase conversions by doing a good job of pre-selling. So, while you want to find products with good sales pages - which will convert well - you also need to do your part by pre-selling rather than just sending traffic to the affiliate sales page.

I just released a product that I'm hoping affiliates will latch onto, check out my signature.

As far as the keyword research, I too am trying to learn how to do this. Can anybody recommend a specific article or such that relates ONLY to keyword research, something that intensely covers exactly what should be done here?

So far the only research I know to do is using the Adwords tool, but I think I'm getting gibbed there with the highest PPC keywords.
