I dont know how RSS my articles - pls help

Hi, I understand how to build backlinks to my articles. I also understand you should RSS and Ping them aswell? I am completely new to this and really want to know if I have got the jist of this or not!?
1. I understand I need to Click the author name on one of my articles. That takes me to that author bio page. There is an RSS icon there that I can click on and get the RSS feed for that authors articles.

Will it look something like this:

http://feeds.ezinearticles.com/expert/Author-Name.xml ?? Does this look like an RSS feed?

2. Do I submit that feed for example to feedage.com everytime an article goes live or do you only need to submit an RSS feed ONCE for each Ezine account and not everytime an article is submitted?
3. Do I submit feed to more than one RSS directory? Can you give me any ideas?
4. Do you ping the URL of each article or do you Ping the RSS feed? If you ping the RSS feed do you then Ping every time you submit an article?
I am slightly confused and just want to do what ever is recommended to help my articles once written. I am sure it is easy enough when you know!

Thanx a million if you can help out.

You could setup a Wordpress blog to post your articles to and use a social bookmarking plugin to automatically ping and bookmark. Then you could submit your blog RSS feeds to as many directories as you can find. You could even take it a step further and setup an identical Blogger blog for more position.

      Hope this helps...

Thanks BobbyB.....for your suggestion. This is something I will attempt.

However to begin with I wanted to get to grips with writing and submitting articles to Ezine and backlinking via other submissions. Is Submitting RSS feeds from my ezine account to RSS directories helpful and pinging?

Cheers once again if anyone can help.

          Hey Moneyland

Yes, your feed will look exactly like that.

I generally add my EZA feed to feedage and feedagg. There are more, but I just use those two.

You only need to add your EZA RSS feed one time to each service. There is no need to update every time a new article has been posted.

Yes pinging the article and rss feed definitely helps with getting indexed faster in google.

          Here is some useful sites:

          Verify rss or atom feed:

I hope I have this right now, so the purpose of submitting your article rss feed to directories is so these submission sites will hopefully rank your content in google thus driving more traffic to your articles. Just thinking then would it be benefitial to use as many sites as possible or just select a couple as mentioned here already.

Thanks for any more imput so I can nail this rss thing once and for all!
