Aweber Doesn't Let Me Use Single-Opt In. What the Heck?

I use single opt in rigorously in my sites.

But now it seems Aweber is demanding a double opt in, even for the aweber
lists where I've chosen NOT to have double opt in.

IS this normal or is it a glitch?

    I know Aweber just updated, but it should only require double optin if your spam complaint is too high

    Go to the "my lists" tab, select the list and click on "confirmed opt in settings". You should be able to turn this off to stop the double opt in requirement.

    I have a few lists that do not have the double optin, and they are working now, so if this does not work for you, it could be trouble with your particular account.

      It would show on your home page if you had too many spam complaints. You can turn the double opt in option off.

      I doubt it, because I just setup a list some days ago and made i single optin. I doubt it will force you to create double optins. SHoot them an email and see what they have to say.

      I had the same thing, the problem seems to be that after you set up a list with the confirmed on (which is default) then you cant go back to 'no confirmed' later without creating a whole new list and disabling it from the get go...

      Friggin stinks, but hopefully this will save someone some time...I know i lost about an hour racking my brain thinking I screwed some code somewhere...

      BTW, does anyone else hate this new Aweber interface? I cant stand it!

        I don't know what you're reading, but the faq you pointed out indicated to me that Aweber now requires confirmed opt in on all lists as it's set automatically, and can't be disabled.

        Could some of you check your accounts, and see if I'm right about this?

    Hey all...
    I just checked my newest clients aWeber site and the option appears to still be there to disable the confirmed optin for a list.Not sure about making a formerly confirmed list not confirmed.
    1ShoppingCart makes me nuts and is even more anal about this than aWeber is. At least with aWeber, you can set this per list, for 1SC it's either on or off for all lists (as far as I can see it anyway)... dang frustrating regardless. I miss the good ole' days when I didn't have to deal with this crap.
    Personally, I use ARP3 (Autoresponse Plus) and I love it.
    Not sure what the disadvantage could be for hosting your own AR software like I do, accept that shared hosts really don't like it, from what I hear, and they will severely limit your email flows if you get crazy (though GVO, formerly Kiosk, swears that they will not do this and that they leave your pipeline flowing un-restricted).
    I use it on my dedicated server, so it's not an issue (well, knock on wood) yet.
    If you are spamming and you do get shut down... well, you'll get no sympathy from me however, those practices are exactly why the rest of us have to deal with this crap now -- not too mention that the ethics of those practices seem misguided to me to begin with, regardless of the results you can get.
