Yes its definitely possible.. use the 'goals' in analytics.

a goal might be visiting the "thank you" page and from that you can see what keywords are leading to your goals.. what entry pages lead to your goals.. etc etc..

Goals is usually the bottom tab in your analytics menu..

and will this tell you the traffic source?

absolutely.

If you're interested in tracking sales specifically you should look at the eCommerce Tracking in Google Analtyics. This will track each dollar earned back to the source. It's a little harder to implement, but not horrible if you're dealing with a static site with a single product and single price point.

The other option is to look at "Goals" in Google Analytics. This don't have a discrete value in Google Analytics like ecommerce tracking does, but it will at least show you a sale and where it came from. The good thing is that it's all URL based, so no extra code to put on your site like ecomm tracking. The downside is that you have to define a preset value for your goal conversion. But, again, if you're dealing with a single product and single price, it's definitely super easy to implement.

Each page request has info that tells where it came from, you don't need any special tools, etc... A NULL value says the user had their browser go straight there.

Google Analytics is perfect option for tracking traffic sources , you can track the keywords that bringing you traffics ... you can track the location ... you can track the websites that sending traffic ... and if you can utilize these infos correctly you can increase your sales .

I do have a eCommerce website that I played around with, since its a custom system, I think that is why I did not get it to work.
