A cosmic/psychic connection? Or Just plain weird?

I wanted to see what you thought of this and see if anything similar has ever happened to you. I don't go in for all this cosmic and psychic malarkey, but this made me stop and think.

Have you ever had an absolutely amazing, drop-dead fantastic idea that makes you think "I'll absolutely kill the market with this"? <--Whether this turns out to be the case is another thing lol

It happened to me. So I did some thinking about it. I developed my idea. I drew sketches on a notepad. I worked out my demographic, my target audience, geographics etc. Sketched out some email campaigns, thought about how to reach the people I would sell to. PPC? Maybe SEO? Listbuilding? Hows and whys and wherefores. I really thought it through. Developed some ideas about keywords and copywriting.

Then I switched to the web. I went to Google to try out a keyword or two. I typed in the exact phrase I had in my head. Amazing. There were about 50 results. But only one result was an EXACT match. The others were all pages that only contained the search words scattered through the content and were totally irrelevant. This one page was 100% relevant. Gutted.

Obviously someone else thought of it first. But the weirder thing was that all the concepts that I got from this one idea were also present in some way or another. Right down to colours, copywriting and email submit form placement, even call-to-action wording! And the content was only a day or two old. I couldn't believe it, I felt so robbed, but kinda spooked because the content couldn't have been very old. Which got me to thinking. Did the guy have the same idea at the same time as me? And did he just manage to get it to market more quickly than me? Robbed!

Has this or something similar happened to you before?

I remember Yanik Silver talking about this before. The idea that several people get the same idea at the same time and the person who acts the quickest is the person that's rewarded. Looks like he wasn't crazy after all

Collective consciousness. We ALL are more connected than we realize. But on a second note - why let competition prevent you from moving forward? How many "same topic" clickbank products are there? How many different styles of jewelry? How can you make you idea unique... better... faster... or simply bring it to market or even "market" more effectively?

Because I was a lot less experienced then and did't think of it that way :S

Yes it is some type of connection, at least in my mind.

It's the Law of Attraction, which has three phases kind of... in simple terms: You think of something, it creates an energy. (Ask phase)

You plan it and feel the success and delivery of the desire. (Believe phase)

You then become open to receiving it, this is where not fearing success comes in. (Receive phase)

The idea behind this is that your thoughts create an energy in which case it influences outside energies and thoughts. This is the idea that when you think of something, pretty much someone else may, and the results are dependent upon completion of the three phases.

    That's my take, at least.

I love intangible ideas. They rock.

Yes. It's a normal occurrence bearing in mind how many people use the internet. If you have a great idea the chances are somebody has already thought about it, is implementing it or will think about it soon. That's why you should implement the idea as soon as possible. I also a long time ago had an idea very similar to the eRepublic project that is very successful now. I couldn't implement it because I did not have the funds available at the time. But other people did and did this successfully. I'm not mad at them, it's normal. Just think how many people are out there thinking every day of new ideas and you will see that this is nothing rare.

I had a dream once where I was observing a word written on a piece of paper. I remembered the word upon awakening. It was a word I'd never heard of before, so I checked my dictionary. It wasn't there, and I have a dictionary that's around 4,000 pages thick. I figured my dreaming mind was just being creative.

I couldn't get that word out of my mind though, so I looked for it later when I went online. Out of all the pages online, I found one reference to it in a 100+ year old dictionary. Just as I'd never heard of that word before, I'd never seen that site before either.

So where did that word come from?

Some things we just can't adequately explain, so logically we should keep an open mind about such things.

Just when you think you've got it all figured out, someone changes the rules.

Pretty strange stuff, but I don't see why this is a barrier to entry for you? If anything it proves there is a market for your idea perhaps. Don't copy your rival exactly but just take your idea, look at what he has done and do it better. Include more content, better graphics, and really go to town on the promotion.

In any niche there are multiple people selling guides for the same thing..
