Keydomain or Keyphrasedomain ?

I would have to say in your case, likely the keydomain, as keyphrase domains are terms marketers may often snag only AFTER all the other SHORT keyword domains are taken.


Smaller website domain names, which are direct often tend to do better, because people are lazy, and if they have to type that in ever, they may simply think it's too long. HOWEVER, it also depends on what you are doing.


If you will just be getting people to click a link, then of course, the above shouldn't really be taken into account. Also, if the keyword for this short domain is in a niche that has many competitors, if you don't know how to get your website on top, it probably wouldn't matter what domain name you have, because no one would ever really find it.


That being said, if you know how to get your website ranked and on top, for a short keyword, you should most definitely go for it, and there seems to be an opportunity, as you have mentioned for the German market, so it sounds like something you should be doing anyways, especially if you have found a little hole like that where you can carve your way into it.


And, at the end of the day, if it's not completely working out for you with the above, you can always flip the website over or can simply sell it again, so that not all of your efforts were wasted.


As for the long-tail-keywords, it really depends on what you are trying to do here, since both options are available, it all depends on your abilities, if you can get yourself ranked and whatnot else you want to do.


Heck, some internet marketers might even take every domain name possible in a niche, that they can get, whether it's a short name/keyword or a long-tail keyword phrase as the URL, they will snag all of them, because the marketer wants to literally dominate the entire niche and have websites covering many things in that niche.


But once again, it depends on what you are trying to accomplish here. But you definitely sound like you have your options open at the moment.
