WP - Plugin... Is there...

Ok, gonna sound stupid but I can't find a plugin which removes the featured posts, videos, blog roll, pages etc... I can do it by the code but that doesn't help because teaching someone to go into the code and trying to delete it is like, well, not happening . I tried the widgets and they don't work, so I am now looking for a plugin anyone?

As far as I knew those things are removed automatically as soon as you add a widget of your own onto the sidebar. Unless I am misunderstanding what you're asking.

Tyson is correct, as soon as you go into the 'Widgets' setting panel and drag a widget into the sidebar on the right, and save, the 'default' widgets that appear with your template will be removed and replaced.

Some templates have a search box that you may not be able to erase automatically unless you go into the code, but it all depends on the template you're using.

I must have some messed up template then, I dragged the widgets into both sides, inactive and active, nothing changed, changed the settings of the widgets to in both locations, I guess I'll have to do it via the code. I want to remove theme completely, not put a new one over the top, if that makes sense.

Some themes have certain features hard-coded in, meaning some of them won't be removed with widgets, the widgets will just be added underneath (but many do remove them as you add your own widgets). So you're either going to have to change it in the coding or find a different theme that better fits your need.

You said you want to remove the theme completely, so just change themes to something that better suits you.

Its actually not a plugin, atleast mine isn't, and there's not a plugin to remove it.

You have to go to your "Theme Options" under the "Appearance" Tab. Scroll down to where it says "Featured Content Settings" and disable it there.

I hope this helps, if not, shoot me a PM with your website and I will try to help you out.

Not all Themes have this option.

Whenever you feel things are not working in your active theme as they should... switch back to the default and check out those widgets, plugins and any other stuff.

If they work with the default - throw out your theme (or re-code it).

It is faster and more efficient than posting in the forum, especially when you don't mention your active theme... and you are not able to clearly describe your issues.

It doesn't matter, I will teach my friend to code them out, I was looking for a simple way to remove the blog roll etc... It may of been my theme earlier but it doesn't matter, I was just curious if a plugin actually did this or not.

        Butters,

Sometimes you have to have something in the sidebar for everything to be removed, otherwise you get the default things that Wordpress put there.

If I want the effect that you are looking for, I normally add a "text" widget, and either leave it empty or an   which is html for a non blank space.

        Don't worry, be happy.
