I use Camtasia. It has a powerpoint plugin included. You can search
for it on Google, get the 30 day free trial, it's fully functional for the 30 days. I think Youtube is a great place to upload them.

You should also think about using TubeMogul for mass distribution to multiple video sites

Maybe plugin was the wrong word to use. I think when I downloaded camtasia originally it asked me if I wanted the two programs to connect or interface. It works pretty well. At the end of making the powerpoint presentation it asks if I want it imported directly to camtasia.

Besides using screen capture software to do this, you can also use some PowerPoint to video converters to do this, like this one: Wondershare PPT2Video. It is specially designed for transfering PowerPoint files to video.

Yes, I went and checked on it to be sure. As you install camtasia there is a point where they ask you if you want it integrated with PowerPoint and you check a small box and it's handled automatically from there.

Why would it be illegal to uploade PPT vids?

The only software you need is PPT and screen capture software. Try camstudio, or BB Flashback express, both free and really easy to use.

QuickTime Pro also performs screen capture on Mac and PC. If you are on a Mac, I recommend ScreenFlow.

Camtasia is the best in my opinion. It installs a "record" feature right into your PPT program. So here's what you do once you have Camtasia.

    1. create your PPT
    2. click record on top left toolbar
    3. talk into mic
    4. edit video if needed
    5. save it in Camtasia as .wmv, .mov or whatever you'd like
    6. upload that file to youtube

You could also download a Powerpoint converter to make it a video presentation and be uploaded onto YouTube.

I found this tip from here:

There is no denying that Camtasia is the best but if you want to spend 1/10th of the money you can make a perfectly good YouTube vid of a PPT with Jing Pro. The regular Jing is free but I am not sure if the format is a right for YouTube. JingPro is only like $15, I think.

I've tried doing this with JingPro but could not find a way to add background music... although I could add voice.

Jing will work for this well. It records audio via the microphone and the speakers, so if you have your microphone connected to your USB, then you would just have to speak into it in order for Jing to record it. At the same time, you would have your background music playing through your speakers.

I haven't ever tried recording background music while I am speaking because I think that it might make it difficult for people to hear / understand what I'm trying to say.

Hope that helps. Have a great day!

"Power Point" to "Author Stream" to "YouTube" cost me $2.00 for Author Streams services... converted and uploaded to youtube within minutes of having the PP done.

I agree with the Camtasia folks it's a great program, however I think it's at $300 bucks currently... a bit of an investment if you don't have the cash and are not sure how much you will use it.

You can import PPT files into Windows Movie Maker. You add whatever you need to and then upload it to Youtube.

Below is a link to an article that turned me on to using authorstream . It's a quick read, whether you go this route or not.

Very good thread topic by the way. I'll be looking at what the other warriors are suggesting too. I'm always looking for better ways to get things accomplished.
