Safe Lists and Traffic Exchanges

Hi all!

I am trying to get information so I can understand safe lists and traffic exchanges.

I really need to drive traffic FAST and I need to do it for FREE (I know everybody says the same thing!)

Are safe lists and traffic exchanges the same or different?

Are the free ones any good?

Do they send traffic that converts, or are they just junk numbers?

I also ran across something called fwebtraffic.com.... (this is definitely NOT a plug for them...I know nothing about them or their system!)

Anybody know anything about it?

You'd think that I could figure this stuff out....I spent 10 years working for advertising agencies, and I have an MBA....but, sadly I stopped working about 8 years ago to have my son, and the internet was a totall different animal at the time!

Thanks so much for an advice, suggetsions, etc.

Have a great day!!

They aren't the same, you could figure that out on your own tho. However, they are very similar.

With them you are only set for some kind of success if you promote MLM, money making opportunities, Internet marketing programs, how-to-get-traffic stuff etc.

I suggest searching for free e-mail list providers such as MailChimp (I can guarantee for this one), YourMailingListProvider, List Wire - there are an abundance of those. Once when you figure out how the whole list building process goes, invest in Aweber - first month 1$, then after that 19$ each month - you get superb autoresponder service for that.

And well, good luck and keep researching and learning, I'm into this for about a year now and I'm still amazed by the amount of things I DON'T know - Internet marketing is a constant education...

    Cheers

If I were you, I'd not waste my time with those.

You should try article marketing or other traffic generation methods because the traffic you get is targeted.

      They are not the same.

There are three types of safelists (or safe lists). One type involves buying a DVD or downloading a list of people who it is claimed you can mail to. Be very very careful about those. If you get more than a few spam complaints through mailing to such a 'list', your isp will close you down.

The other two are where one signs up and agrees to receive email to their chosen email address, in return for sending email, such as business opportunities or product/service offers, to other members of that safelist. There can be no spam complaints, as by signing up, one agrees to receive emails from other members.

I say two, because there are two types of the latter safelists. Credit based and non credit based. I found that credit based lists were more successful, primarily because the email recipient has to open the email and click a link in order to receive credits. The credits can then be accumulated used to send one's own emails to the list.

The most important part of an email sent to a safelist is the heading - it must make the recipient want to open it. Secondly use a short snappy narrative of one to three attention grabbing paragraphs to promote your offer.

As to Traffic Exchanges, personally I find them more effective, but one needs to develop the knowledge and skills to take full advantage of them. This recent WF post might help some:

    @ Rovad - Thanks!

However, I am selling a money making/IM opportunity, so then maybe these would be good for me?

I also already have AWeber set up and ready to receive a list....it's loaded with emails, which include a 5-part training video series (the free gift to get he email address), then they will be offered a free ebook on building websites, followed by a free 26-part training video series, and finally a free subscription to a info packed newsletter. Only after that do I start trying to sell anything, and even that is a really soft sell.

I didn't realize that there were free email lists....are they really any good, or do they just end up getting you in trouble for spam??

@ Mohmmed - Thanks to you too!

I have definitely considered article mareketing, and in fact work as a freelance article writer on the side right now, but I was concerned that it takes a huge volume of articles up on the directories in order to really see any significant traffic. Is that not true?

I certainly think I can come up with articles, but it seems like they are reinventing the wheel!

Since I'm in a money-making/IM niche, I'm not sure I have anything NEW to offer the readers that they can't find someplace else. Any thoughts?

You also mentioned "other traffic generation methods"....any suggestions?

Thanks again to both of you for giving me a place to bounce these ideas off someone! It all gets a little one-sided in my own head!
