  Though I agree with this 100%, it is still quite unfortunate that major "Internet Marketing Gurus" use this against the new crowds quite effectively in their campaigns. Most established gurus marketing scammy "make millions overnight" campaigns are always targeting such vulnerable people, and its a shame that this propagates over to forums such as the Warrior Forum too.
  
  I think we should encourage even the "make money online" crowds but guide them towards the right ways to start their online presence and work towards monetizing it in a properly thought out, realistic manner.

I have posted a link to sbucciarel's FlipAce WSO at least twice a day for the past three days when some newbie started a thread asking about site flipping.

Sooner or later, I am going to tell someone to shut his retarded little pie hole and use the freaking search function, and that someone will think I am being very rude and unfair.

I think it depends on people's moods. I've been to many forums were people get snippy. Perhaps they're tired of seeing a question for the 500th time and take it on the newbie. He doesn't know any better.

He was duped into this behavior by buying into a product that took advantage of his desperation to make money. We've all been there. Let's not forget people who are still trying to wade through the junk.

I've been to a forum where a person asked a simple detailed question and one member downright lambasted her, telling her she was lazy, asked the question too many times, didn't want to do the work. He was downright headdy.

There's no need for that.

  I agree for most of it. There is a lot of negativity and the 'experts' seem to look down on the newbies when they are not sure about stuff. It is only a section of people though, there are a lot of helpful people on here who do give the time to help newbies.
  
  When we get a good knowledge on here and are successful we should remember that we were all once 'new' to this and we had the same questions. I for one felt intimidated at times and would not ask questions I really needed to know because I felt they would seem stupid.
  
  I try my best now though to help anyone and encourage people to keep going. It would be good to see others do the same.

  For the OP - You're missing the message some people have provided for you.
  
  You know when you buy a new car and then suddenly you see them everywhere - it's the same with forums. If your mind is in a negative place - you'll spot all the negative stuff.
  
  You get what you focus on.
  
  You need to remember that although this is an internet forum and you may not know the people - they are actually real people with emotions and experiences.
  
  This forum has a LOT of amazing people - real people who are caring and love to help people.
  
  But sometimes tough love is also required.
  
  There are a lot of newbies that come here with their head full of misinformation thinking that they know it all and maybe even with the idea that this forum is full of gullible idiots to be milked of their money. Sad but true.
  
  The mods do an amazing job of keeping the really bad stuff from reaching most people.
  
  Over the years we've seen a lot of idiots come here, steal peoples money, spread lies and bad information and con people into thinking they're something they're not. There have been a lot of instances of such things and it's not new.
  
  So, it's not surprising that many of the people who have been here for a long time feel protective of the other members and want to look out for them.
  
  Now, that may sometimes come across as overly defensive or even aggressive/sarcastic to new members - but anyone who actually comes here to meet great people and learn good information gets through that.
  
  Some people come here abusing the forum, learn their lesson and become valuable and useful members here.
  
  No-one is perfect and this forums members are some of the most forgiving you will find anywhere.
  
  So, if YOU feel like you've been treated unfairly by someone - if you just talk to them about it and let them know, you'll probably find that they had a reason and it wasn't personal. If you don't get any luck resolving that with them - you can use the 'ignore' feature of the forum and never see their posts again.
  
  I have about 6 people on my ignore list and I've been here for over 6 years.
  
  Once you learn who to tune out and who to watch - you'll stop seeing the negativity and see some amazing positivity.
  
  The problem with your current approach is that you're feeding the very thing that you're criticising.
  
  Someone else tells you this place is negative - you come here expecting it and looking for it - then you see it. You decide they're right and generalise that it's "full" of negativity and keep seeing it.
  
  The worst thing you can do is spread this mindset as it will just serve to keep your generalisation true for you and give others the same mindset.
  
  I would urge you to accept that sometimes people are people and may post emotionally - but that doesn't make them a negative person per se. If you find a lot of people that are too negative for you - just use the ignore feature.

  Well, you're the only thread I've read saying this in a good long time, so ... so many people aren't saying the same thing.
  
  It's threads like this that elicit negative responses. If you spent your time contributing to the forum in a value-added manner instead of whining and pissing and moaning, the response would be more favorable.
  
  We don't like whiners, con artists, scammers, spammers, and all manner of objectionable people and this forum gets it's share of all of that and whether they have come here in the guise of the precious little newbie you speak of or not, they are easy to spot and will be responded to appropriately.

Negativity will be anywhere you want to look for it...doesn't matter what forum, newspaper, new broadcast you look at....

Your best bet is to ignore the negativity... and not let it affect you.

Like was mentioned here too... people get frustrated when others come on and ask the same question every time you turn around without using the search button. Best thing to do is just not answer it if your patience is wearing thing...someone who hopefully hasn't lost all patience will answer it until you recover lol.

I get irritated answering the same questions over and over again...but I try and realize that the person asking it doesn't even realize I was asked it 4,123,456,765,321,765 times before... So it isn't their fault. And with new people coming online everyday and trying to make some money...heck a lot of them may be on a forum for the very first time and not even know to search...

I just disappear for awhile when I get to the point of blowing up. I found it is the best solution hehe.

Let me first say: I am a very positive person. Almost all the time.

But what you are doing here is spreading the negativity by focusing on the negativity.

You say nothing changes... so change it.

The only way to make a more positive environment for yourself and others is to be positive.

You can't force anyone else to do anything by lecturing, but you might persuade them by example.

These may all seem like simplistic statements, but think about it a little bit.

There's both, it's inherent on forums in almost any niche.

This one, has vastly less of the negative than any other
in IM.

It still exists, however, I've seen Warriors who should know
better feast on the carcass of some poor newbie who
asked a stupid question.

What I find even less appealing is the mob mentality,
a lot of following the herd going on at times. One
member of note says something negative and the
rest feel it's an open day to bash some poor kid
who obviously didn't have a clue.

People forget what seems absurdly stupid to them constitutes
a viable offer, statement or question to somebody without
a clue.

I've tracked back occasionally to see some of the
victims never post again, which is a shame.

On balance however, compared to the alternatives this
place is the most professional , most mature, and least
negative by a country mile but in isolation, it does happen
irrelevant of what the flag waving moral crusaders say.

If you've ever been in the room with someone who is really very, very positive almost all the time, you've seen how a positive outlook on things is contagious. People naturally want to be happy around happy people.

The same is true of negativity. People come here to vent, and that's fine. But sometimes it can begin to get too much. In that case you need a break- a little pause from discussion boards. And this board is generally pretty good.

I'm so tempted to start a "Why is there so much positivity?" thread. ;-)

But then people much prefer to rubberneck at car wrecks than to see the beauty in even the smallest thing. So, while a thread on negativity will get lots of views and participation, I fail to see how it adds value to the forum.

The best way to improve any community is to make positive contributions, ask good questions and challenge flawed assumptions or sloppy thinking.

That's sort of his point however.

If your approach was unified across all posters threads like this
wouldn't exist , but it's not and I've openly seen a barrage
of people swoop down on some poor newbie with a ton
of negative comments.

Tough love is one thing if it's followed by something
constructive, unfortunately it's not always, even here.

It's just a bunch of people all looking to suck up to somebody
and act like a bunch of demented sheep all posting exactly the
same "no **** sherlock" response until the guy dissapears
with his tail between his legs and the pitchforks crew all wander
off in a moral high ground love fest.

Of course it does. I didn't see anyone claim otherwise. Which makes the "flag waving moral crusaders" part extraneous.

The amount of bashing that happens over naive questions is so small it's silly. The majority of the times that people get verbally slapped around have nothing to do with "newbie" status. They're mostly from a few categories of behavior that are easily identified.

Example: The OP was inspired to post this based on some videos he saw that griped about the place. Who do you think is likely to have created that kind of video, Simon? What might have happened to inspire it?

Then there are the trolls. I'm sure you've seen plenty of those in here. They're on almost every board, and we get our share and then some.

And look at the comment from amdr114. He's talking like an old hand here, using an account that was created the same day as the post was made. He's either just another troll, he's stupid, or he's been here previously under a different account name. None of those inspire much in the way of credibility or latitude.

As far as people leaving after getting piled on, there are times when that's a good thing. See any of the three examples above. If they were asking legit questions and gave up after noise from strangers, what chance do you think they had of making it in an actual business?

That doesn't excuse pointless rudeness, but it does provide a useful perspective.

Not extraneous or irrelevant but badly phrased I'll agree.

My point was everybody jumps into these threads and has
a flip out out this guy. Spouting how amazing everything is
here, how positive they are and how this guys clearly a

I could have phrased it better, granted. My typing speed

I was only referring to the newbies class Paul. I just feel a little
sorry for them some times. As far as the above, no doubt
somebody got their nose put out of joint and decided to have
a little video rant I presume. I'm not defending any other
category, feel free to happy slap the crap outta them, I
don't give a fig. When it's self induced and not born
from naivety I have zero compassion. I'll happily
pick up a pitchfork and torch and follow on up the hill.

Yeah, you're preaching to the choir here though Paul, as I say
I don't have any issue with it at all when it's directed at
somebody who's clearly come here to cause trouble or
somebody as above who's just made a new account in order
to be a pain, or trolls or spammers or any other category
of pain in the ass.

My defense is purely and only targeted at the newbies,
I just think of some poor kid , probably not many steps
away from the kind who got scammed into buying a million
e-mail addresses and who thinks they are going to get rich.

I know that kid, because that kid was me. But in the
pre internet days. I was the 17 year old dupe,
who thought stuffing envelopes and sending out
thousands of letters at huge postal expense for MLM
health supplements was going to make me rich. I
was that newbie who if I had been born 20 years later
would have probably been on here asking bleeding daft questions.

Like, I said, 90% of your post there's no disagreement on.
I'm not defending the actions of morons creating new
accounts to be a pain in the ass and then getting jumped on.

Jump away.

My focus is purely that I think some folks could do
worse than give stupid questions a little latitude
and try to remember the angle some folks come into
this business from.

I have friends even now who ask me questions
about IM, which would make your toes curl.

Some folks simply do not have a clue, and what appears
ludicrously retarded to us, seems like a major
money maker to them.

I don't think we are actually a million miles from
congruency on this one, it just appeared like it.

Based on your postings in the past, I suspect we're in exact agreement, with the possible exception of my comment about those newbies who run scared being unlikely to succeed in a rough business.

I mention the rest because, believe it or not, that's where a lot of the complaints about newbies getting bashed come from. People come in here and spam, start arguments about things they're clueless on, and generally act like idiots, then whine about how evil we are when we smack them for it.

If I don't mention those things in a discussion like this, they just get more prevalent.

Paul, tis the internet, if we can manage exact agreement on 90%
of each others points on the matter, we didn't do badly.

Point taken re the prevalence, I just get a little wary of the mob
mentality on occasion.

A while back, I started a thread for people to leave positive comments.

I really wish it would have stayed up longer, but I know even the best threads can move around pretty quickly.

If I had the time, I'd do a random sampling of some posts and see how the positive comments stack up against the negative ones. On second thought, it wouldn't work.

Why? Because, even though I pride myself in being objective, I would go into it with the idea that there are far more positive comments than negative ones. And that would skew the results, especially when it came to those responses that are borderline.

Also, I have read the replies by the OP in this thread and they mostly come across as argumentative. Meaning the mental filters are firmly entrenched and no amount of factual evidence to the contrary will convince the OP that they could be incorrect. Shame that only one video could have that effect.

And what does "that would be true if only there weren't so many people saying the same thing" mean anyway? That's what the experts call "weasel words" (not a cut on the OP, that really is what they're called). Who are these "so many people"? What EXACTLY have they said? And so on.

Now, don't get me wrong. I know I have filters in place as well. And, of course, I feel totally confident that those filters came about through the logical and organic process of being a member here for several years and seeing how new people are treated as a whole. BUT...I also know that it is highly unlikely and that my filters stem from something much more subjective.

Regardless, I dare anybody to go to any other marketing forum, and ask some of the exact same questions new people ask here - and see how the other forums treat them. You think some of us can "jump all over" new people? At least we don't result to calling people some of the nastiest names in the book for asking simple questions.

Yes, I dare anybody.

The worst reactions here will pale in comparison.
