keyword research question

Hey warrior,

i am confuse with what is broad, phase and exact using micro niche finder and google keywords tool.

i am looking for a long tail keyword, for example: best diet to lose weight fast
and i have brought the exact domain as well.

i check it in MNF
keyword: best diet to lose weight fast
monthly search: (local)2,900, (global)1,600

google keywords tool
keyword (exact) : best diet to lose weight fast
monthly search: (local)Not enough data, (global) 4,400

why they are returning different result?

i do a google search with the keyword without quote

it show: About 17,500,000 results

but when i check in MNF it is showing very less competition in SOC and showing a green light for domination.

so i am confuse, with 17 million competitors can i still easily make it to page 1?

MNF showing a green light, but is it only for the searches with quote?
"best diet to lose weight fast" ??

hope to get some advice from you guys, thanks a lot

    If you had a site dedicated to "goats playing the banjo while eying up the ewes" you may get many results for "goat" "banjo" "ewes" or whatever...

    All those words are listed, however if someone searches for your exact keyword string yours will probably be right at the top

    hey youicsoft that niche is a very competitive niche and it would be very hard to make it to page 1, but nothings impossible. A good little tip would be to install google page rank, to get this just type in google "install google pagerank" they give you easy instructions, then type keyword in google and click on all the sites on the first page, so now look at your page rank widget, it will go just below your website address box, and see what page rank it shows. anything over 4 would be hard to rank above at your stage. ive just done a check and the top site has a rank of 4 and the bottom 3, eeeerrr could be hard for you, but give it go.

    By the way, diet / weight-loss niches will always be tough to rank high for since so many people go after them, but not impossible...

      if google keyword tool show (exact) best diet to lose weight fast ... with average 4,400 searches / month, so which mean that's about 4,400 people really search for the EXACT keywords?

      let say i have build tons of quality backlink + onpage seo, and i have rank #1 for this exact keyword.

      will it automatically rank for the keyword: best diet to lose weight ? i mean without the word "fast"

      or do i have to seo another time for best diet to lose weight? (without "fast")

    Yes, give or take...you still have to compete with the thousands of other sites marketing those exact keyword strings but the more authoritative your site becomes with content the more and more you will find people coming to you

    It usually takes about 6-9 months I am told for people to start coming, as your site builds age and rank, but when it does that is when you find the golden egg.

    Of course less competitive niches are easier.

    It will not automatically rank for those keywords as someone else may be better, it is far better to make an authoritive site, that way as time passes you will get the lions share more and more.

    Global is the entire world (that uses their search engine), so some of those won't be in english, and/or sites in their country will out rank yours. Stick with the local numbers, much less of a gamble :-)

    Sorry to ask so many question, but i think some other newbie may have the same question in mind

    1) authoritative site - may i know how do we judge a site as authoritative site?

    - do you mean a site with many pages & targeting many keywords is a authoritative site?

    - a wordpress blog with many post is a authoritative site?

    - do you mean authoritative site is a site with high PR, many quality backlinks & aged?

    2) domain with keywords

    do you think a domain with the exact targeting keyword will have a big plus to rank for the keyword?

    my real live experience, i brought a 3 word domain for an exact keyword, after install wordpress and onpage seo, the site rank #9 just overnight.

    so this is because of the domain?

    (after articles link building, the site goes up to #3 only after 2 months)

    I would say that an authority site is one that has people sending others to it because it is trusted, anyone can make a PR7+ in time I am assuming by spamming millions of backlinks from everywhere but it all means for naught if people don't tell others about it. The issue is that no one knows what Google deems it to be, but that is my definition.

    Having the exact keyword in the name can definitely help I am thinking, though with more competition your work also increases to get to the coveted top spots...if people are searching for "Spains best beach resorts" and you happen to have that exact domain name with maybe some content too then it will naturally float to the top...you likely will be butting up against the likes of Lonely Planet and Expedia for the top position but having the exact name people are searching for will not harm you at all
