Teething trouble with my first web site

Can anybody please help me?
I have uploaded my files to my hosting account and have come across a problem.
I registered a domain name with 1&1 and have a hosting account with Hostgator.
I cannot work out how to redirect my domain name (that is what forwarding destination address to use) and whether to use Frame redirect or HTTP redirect. Once i have redirected my domain name is there anything else i need to do in order to see my website when i type the domain name into a browser.
Sorry if i am waffling but this is the first time i have ever tried to do this.
Look forward to hearing anybody's comments.

    Hi Kim,

    When I buy my domain names I go into the manage section and there you will find a place to point your domain to. For instance with mine it is host/then there IP no. They will supply that on their information page. If not send a message to support. If oyu need more help PM me and I will try and do it for you.

      hey,

      If I read the post right, you have purchased a domain name from 1&1 and have hosting at hostgator, and you need to link your domian name and server right?

      If thats the case you just need to update your nameservers at 1&1, its really easy and if you do a google search or on youtube for "changing nameservers" there will be lots of step by step guides.

      I just checked youtube and there are tons of videos on how to change your nameservers, but dont worry its really simple.
