"e" infront of domain names

Hi Warriors

What do you all think of "e" in front of a domain name because the first choice is taken?

e.g. ehotels.com emobiles.com

I must say I'm not keen on them, but I've just spent 20 mins trying to find a domain to suit my new project and have not hit upon one yet.

Are there any SEO implications to be aware of also?

Thanks

    Hi Jenni,

I don't mind an 'e' in front of a domain name provided that it reads
well and sounds clear when spoken.

Adding an 'e' has the advantage of making the domain name short
    and 'e' implies electronic/internet.

There are no SEO penalties for having an e in the domain name and
besides Google etc rank pages based on content and backlinks.

The SEO part can be improved by choosing the appropriate anchor
text for the keywords that you want the site ranking for. So just make
sure that the anchor text has Hotel instead of eHotel for example.

    Best wishes,

    Shaun

Nothing wrong with an "e" as long as it does not kill the "flow" of the domain name, or alter the meaning of the word you want to utilize.

You could also think about adding an "A" instead of an "E", as many grading systems have A as the best grade.

There's nothing "wrong" with using e in front of your domain names, and no, it doesn't have any SEO detriments, but I just dislike the way they look. It seems to me like websites that have an e before the keyword in the domain are less legitimate than those without. Maybe others don't feel this way, but that's just me.

      Cheers!

  • When I am not looking at exact keyword domains (going for branding instead) I like to use Yahoo's domain search. I have found every single one of my branded domains from suggestions in the Yahoo search.

Seriously, it gives you some GREAT available domain name ideas. You dont have to register with them. They are too expensive and unfriendly. But it is a good tool to use to find the domain.

Give it a try and see what domains it suggests for you.

Here, I'll show you some examples. The first two I sold.

I was looking afor a good keyword "violin" site. Yahoo gave me a suggested howtoviolin.com Pretty cool, huh

I was looking for a tinnitus domain one time. I couldnt come up with anything on my own, so I used Yahoo's domain search and it suggested tinnitusear.com Great domain again, huh? Especially sence tinnitus affects the EAR!

I was going to create a foreclosure site, but all the good foreclosure type domains were taken, right? Well, using Yahoo again, Yahoo suggested homelifeforeclosure.com Sure, it is long. But, it has two good related keywords.

That is just three examples of how Yahoo's domain search feature netted me some great brandable (non keyword) domains.

Again, dont register them with Yahoo. Use Godaddy or something else and use coupon codes to get them cheaper.

I don't see any problems with that like Shaun said "Adding an 'e' has the advantage of making the domain name short and 'e' implies electronic/internet." and I disagree with the post about making it look less credible.
