Need $20 for domain and hosting - What should I do?

most hosting services have coupons for the first month for a penny..in know hostgator does...just do a google search...now you only need 9 bucks for a domain...try to cut it out of your normal spending...$9 shouldn't be hard to do...

ACtually for a month of hosting is under $5
$2.99 for a year in .info at namecheap and of course the ever famous .01cent hostgator.

Just spend the $20. If you're serious about internet marketing then it won't be long before you make it back.

I know you said online, but, if you only need $20, hold a yard sale. You would make that much easily on a Saturday morning.

As someone mentioned above, you really don't even need to spend $20 initially, as I believe Hostgator has a 1 cent offer for the first month of hosting, and with coupon codes you can get a .com at Godaddy for $8 and change. If you really want to earn this $8 online, just offer to write 2-3 articles for $10 in here (which should be a cinch to do). You could also go to fivver.com and offer to do a couple of $5 jobs, and this should more than cover your hosting and domain. Don't obsess or overthink it - seriously, in the amount of time you spend researching ways to make this $8 or so (I'm sure you've already done some legwork besides just starting this thread), you could have already earned it!

Here is a simple way to do that:
Use GPT (Get Paid To) sites. Gpt sites are basically sites that run CPA offers. Its basically a person making a gpt site and registering with few CPA networks, and they start generating leads for those offer. They get paid when they make a lead and they pay you a percentage (its predetermined) of that money.Most pay out by paypal and check. You do free stuff like registering for free newsletter, register with different free websites, take surveys and etc. You can't really make big money, but GPT sites are great for making quick small amounts of money whenever you have time and need a little but quick cash.

The best GPT sites I believe is quickrewards.net. ( I am not an affiliate of them, But I have been a member for years and whenever I need small amount of quick cash, I go their and spend a few hours and complete few free offers and get paid for it).
There are 3 advantage for using this sites.

1- They have a lot of free offers you can do and you can make $20 easily in less than 2hrs sometimes.

2- They pay extremely fast. They pay no later than 24 after you request to cash out your money. Most of the time it takes them less than 15 min to pay you in your paypal. Of course if you want check, it will take a few days to arrive.

3- When you do offers, most sites take days to credit your money into your account, but they credit most of the time in 15 minuets.

Now, some may say if its that good why dont you use yourself for extra money. The problem is there are only so much offer to do, after that you run out of offers to do and you cant do them twice. Although they do add new offer once in a while, sometimes even daily. But, there is only so much money to be made.

So, if I were you, i would go there, register for free, search their offers and start with the highest paying free offers and do until you reach $20. In a few hours you can reach $20 and get paid before the night (depending where you are) is over. Tomorrow morning you can pay your hosting and domain fees with the money you earned using paypal.

Also, if you want to make more money, you can use other GPT sites to make a little bit for later, when you need more money for maybe outsourcing or what have you. Here is a list of free and legit GPT sites.

You could use a free hosted site first like wordpress.com, blogger or weebly. Create a money page or mini site. Keep it simple and with minimum pages but on one specific product or niche. And of course throw in the affiliate links as text links. I'm not really talking using banners, affiliate links within your text will work better, especially with minimum traffic.

Tip: The easiest way to make a sale without much IM experience is to choose a affiliate offer that is the solution to someone's problem.

Then write some articles to them. That's pretty similar to bum marketing. You could also use any other FREE method for traffic to them like social bookmarking, forums, etc....

Or offline: mow some yards or other yard work. It should only take 1 lawn to make at least $20.

If you are really sticking to your plan to not spend any money unless you earn it first, here's what you can do:

Go get a free .com domain from 1and1 while the promo is still ongoing. It will be free for a year and then you start paying. I'm sure you'll have made much more than enough for the domain registration renewal after 1 year.

As for hosting, you can get it free at one of the following:

freehostia.com
000webhost.com

But if you want more web hosting features, you will need to spend a little something. How about 50 cents a month? You can sign up for a full featured hosting plan for $0.50 a month at nwhnetworks.com

If you have a lawn mower you could find a few people in your are that would let you cut there grass or clean gutters ,wash windows, Paint , wash there car, something.Just let them know you have something your looking to invest in and feel you should earn the money before spending it. I would bet you would have your $$ and more before the day was out.

I have to say, while this is an interesting thought experiment, I think you are wasting a lot of valuable energy and time. I have though about this before, as far as what I would do if I was dead broke and homeless. I would collect cans to make the first $15-20 that it takes to get started.

Just from an internet point of view, and if you wanted to do it by selling something, you could search and find some free master resell rights products and/or plr products and promote them on a WordPress.com site. While the domain is still wonky and tells people it's free, the sites look pretty good and you may be able to get a couple of sales. You could also promote CB products using the same blog. Write reviews (not too ethical) or just product summaries and then link to the posts using twitter and craigslist.

Again, I would voice my agreement with those that have told you not to start out this way. It's hard enough starting out with $20. Starting out without $20, is an extra hurdle that you don't need to put up.

Oh, I came up with another idea. You could probably trade someone with a reseller account services (like writing articles) for hosting & domain registration.

I think selling your stuff on ebay or cragislist would be a good way to come up with $20. You can try writing an article or review to some sites and keep looking for those affiliate offer. Good luck!

Uh... who cares what you told yourself? Suppose you told yourself you wanted to find a girlfriend but you refused to shower ever and you smelled like garbage. Would you be proud of the fact that you'd never showered and never gotten a girlfriend?

You could vow to yourself to never blow money foolishly in trying to start an internet business and that would be reasonable, but your "vow" is similar to saying you want to learn how to drive but refusing to sit in a car. Good luck with that.

(Note: I don't mean for my post to sound rude, but if it'd take you, say, 10 times as long to accomplish something as if you'd spent $20 on it upfront, what is your time worth?)
