Anyone use Ning?
I signed up for ning and created a community. Problem is I didn't have a clue how the thing works or what to do.
To my surprise people are actually joining and now what do I do to make it a good, interesting community? Do I add a blog post regularly?

    Ning is cool.

I use Ning - did a blog post on it here in
the forum in early September. If you
followed my blog, you'd know more cool
    stuff.

Ning is great. I'ma member of about 4 different groups. It's a great place to get new ideas and meet new people. Problem is that some people just use it as a place to spam people. But there are some good groups where the people are "real".

I would post the link to my 2 favorite one's but I can't because I'm new and I can't post URL's until I've submitted 15 posts so if you want to know what they are, PM me.

My #1 favorite group rewards people who participate in the group a lot by including them in her link list. She also sends an email out like once a week, I think, that let's people know what's happening in the group. Also, contests are fun. That particular group has over 500 members which is pretty good for Ning.

I set one up and love it. I have a forum with a paid membership and I set up my ning site as an "invite" only and posted the link in the private area just for my paid members.

It has a ton of flexibility and when used properly it allows members to really communicate in ways they can't via a forum. Not everyone has used it to it's full potential yet, but I have like 85 members using it.

Just like any community it takes time and effort on your part to help it grow. Regardless of participation, you have to keep on using it, adding content, uploading videos, spurring conversation.

I went with the paid version to reduce ads and I have my own domain name so it's a masked redirect. I have not one bad thing to say about ning!

It is a little cumbersome at first to set up, but if you spend a few hours putzing around with it, it becomes pretty easy to figure out.

I bought a WSO called 'Ning Can Make You Rich'. All the buy pages are dead, though. Thank god I downloaded the videos before it went belly up.

I use Ning for a private community for my Guide2eBooks.com customers. It's like having a private membership site - everyone has their own blog, they leave comments for each other, they form groups, etc. I need to get more activities going in mine
