xyz product "is it a scam?"

Who started spamming search engines with content that reads like that? It seems that the idea has caught on like wildfire and has been used to peddle just about any affiliate offer under the sun.

I thought it was interesting to read on MarketSamurai's new affiliate promo this specific passage at Noble Samurai The Market Samurai Affiliate Program has LAUNCHED!:

"...Promote Market Samurai through negative "Is Market Samurai a Scam?" style advertising, SPAM, lie, cheat, steal, or deliberately misrepresent Market Samurai's features or any of our offers to get sales, use black hat techniques (such as cookie-stuffing), use dirty tricks, advertise promises that you don't keep, or otherwise damage our good name..."

...Then the Market Samurai Affiliate Program is NOT for you.

Obviously shows what some folks think about this style.

Just to be clear, I am trying to indicate here some products that get promoted through affiliates are specifically saying not to use it.

it's been around a couple of years - I remember when it started and seeing people raving about doing it and mentioning it in their info-products.

It's a classic strategy but not something I like myself.

Some well-known marketers got attacked for using it in their email campaigns too. Some were even so desperate they were saying if you bought this - go get a refund and then buy it from me.

I will never like such kind of strategy for my product. The people who use that kind of strat. think that they are doing well and are attracting a lot of people or will be.

Because, people love to read negative things first, that's why it is happening all around the internet now a days.

But I do not like the things like that. I never use and do not recommend it!

rubber necking is what its called, isn't it?

The psychological effect that makes people slow down to see the aftermath of an automobile accident; while many of the same that slowed down will keep moving (or even speed up) if they see a Nun hitch hiking...

    Humans are deep... lol

Although there is a form of marketing based around this, this original post is misleading.

If you quote something, don't selectively quote things which mislead or change the context of what is written...

The ... at the beginning of your quote is surely for the words 'do not'

and on the webpage you mention they add this after that quote:

...Then the Market Samurai Affiliate Program is NOT for you.

So it's not like people are encouraging Market Samarai to be promoted that way, more like the opposite. Unlike what the op suggests.

Sorry, my bad. I was trying to make the point that some affiliate programs are now starting to bring this up as something that is NOT allowed. I updated the original post not to confuse people. Thanks for the feedback.

I'm not entirely sure that this is true. There are quite a few aspects of how some marketers work (not just IMers) that I find offensive, but I've never been offended by this. Don't use it myself though.

I Use the xyz product scam? approach for one of the affiliate programs that is ok with it.

but i target the "xyz product scam" keyword on google, whichh means the traffic is relevant and im not attempting to trick people to click on to my website.

plus i try to provide an honest pros and cons to help my visitor make a decision.

i believe This approach can be used in a appropriate way

Actually if Im honest, I think it's kind of clever. You are not misleading anyone, just taking the keyword that is associated with what people are searching for.

And I for one would rather have that phase covered by tons of budding affiliates then someone who is hell bent of slandering me for whatever reason. (I do not produce bad products, but we all know examples of how hard it can be to fight negative publicity even when it is totally baseless. )

Just like most methods, it is so overused now that when I see it, I ignore it. I've got "Is xxx a scam" blindness now. Time for a new trick.

People do it because keyword tools and website stats show them that there are other people out there searching for negative phrases like scam etc.
